The medical community may completely change their recommendations in the US. Until they do, I'm going with their standards of care. I know they've changed standards in other western countries, but I don't know if their standards are universal among them there. I hadn't looked into it.

The medical community did not preach doing it until Obamacare funded it. This should tell you something.

One does not need to be a doctor to know that mutilating kids for life is a bad idea. A teen male that thinks he is a female needs therapy, not a knife. A preteen male who thinks he is a female needs a crack upside the head and told to quit acting foolish.

The teens are usually emulating what they are seeing in pop culture. Note it is usually rich white kids, not working class or poor, who feel some need to "transition." Because they have the time to worry about silly things.

Why would I give any credence about your non-medical opinion about medical care that should be allowed to happen?

More kids are getting harmed watching TikTok than trans issues, I'd wager. Lots more. But it benefitted Trump, so he pushed to keep it. Not for a principled reason like free speech. At least there is no evidence he did it for free speech. He even did it for himself against National Security concerns.

Calling trans surgery "medical care" is stupid. Thinking it is needed care is insanely stupid. Know how stupid you are for thinking this? If I were to order a complete truckload of stupid from Amazon and only you got out I could not get a refund because they would rightly say how stupid you were.

You said in a thread discussing marriage age, it's perfectly fine for underage people to marry adults.

Also, many people do say such a thing, in fact Republicans do even in the most recent child marriage debates. The view is child marriage prevents abortion, and has social benefits.

You can also see this trend based on which states ban child marriage (blue vs red....) Red states rarely ban child marriage, or if they do, have all kinds of exceptions (including pregnancy exceptions, which allowing a 14 year old to marry a 35 year old who got her pregnant is problematic for all sorts of reasons....)

In many Red states underage girls can be married (I say girls because often they have a lower age to marry than boys, which also makes no sense to have different ages based on gender....) sometimes as young as 12 (sometimes no age limits for girls at all... Such as Mississippi....)

So yes, you have supported child marriage (at least as of 4 years ago.) And, Republicans do overwhelming. Luckily some Republican lawmakers are turning around, but many are aggressively fighting to keep it, and federally there is no progress on proposed legislation.

More kids are child married to adults than have trans surgeries by many orders of magnitude. This is far more important for child safety and health if that is truly your concern. My position is simple ban trans surgeries for under 18 and ban child marriage, no exceptions period. This is the logical view (I just don't care that much about trans stuff because it is a statistical non-issue.)
