Also, many people do say such a thing, in fact Republicans do even in the most recent child marriage debates. The view is child marriage prevents abortion, and has social benefits.

You can also see this trend based on which states ban child marriage (blue vs red....) Red states rarely ban child marriage, or if they do, have all kinds of exceptions (including pregnancy exceptions, which allowing a 14 year old to marry a 35 year old who got her pregnant is problematic for all sorts of reasons....)

In many Red states underage girls can be married (I say girls because often they have a lower age to marry than boys, which also makes no sense to have different ages based on gender....) sometimes as young as 12 (sometimes no age limits for girls at all... Such as Mississippi....)

So yes, you have supported child marriage (at least as of 4 years ago.) And, Republicans do overwhelming. Luckily some Republican lawmakers are turning around, but many are aggressively fighting to keep it, and federally there is no progress on proposed legislation.

More kids are child married to adults than have trans surgeries by many orders of magnitude. This is far more important for child safety and health if that is truly your concern. My position is simple ban trans surgeries for under 18 and ban child marriage, no exceptions period. This is the logical view (I just don't care that much about trans stuff because it is a statistical non-issue.)

I have new neighbors. A female married couple with a baby son. Egg was from one of the women. I could not be happier to have them living next door. Their son loves my Yorkie. They are interesting to talk to. It seems like they will be great parents.
Wife’s youngest daughter is gay
Sister’s oldest son is gay.

All I want is for all of them to be able to enjoy their lives like I can enjoy mine.

If I did mention it I probably said something along the lines of if we are going to let them get abortions without consent then they are old enough to get married. The age for the female being younger than the male goes back forever. Women mature faster and way back they needed to be married off faster for various reasons. A 16 year old marrying a 19 year old BF? Not ideal but not the end of the world. That is the edge of (age/2) + 7 rule. CA, the bluest of states, has no minimum age at all. I have not heard any GOP activity to lower the age anywhere.
