...and you should consider that a working vaccine could potentially reduce the effects of Covid to a bad cold.

Some people who are skeptical about aspects of the coronavirus suggest these are deaths that would have occurred anyway, perhaps because COVID-19 is particularly deadly for the elderly.

About 95% would have.

I am not being personal, but I think you are very wrong. The ‘excess deaths’ tally in the U.S. is 204,691 in 7 months as of Aug. 15, 2020 so COVID-19 deaths are probably undercounted

I dont think so
A normal virus, you beat it and move on with your life
People getting out of the hospital 6 months ago are still fighting the virus
Its one thing to get sick with a normal virus and completely recover in days or a week.
Nobody wants a forever virus which is what this thing is turning into
We still dont understand this virus as all the long haulers are pretty much guinea pigs in learning how this virus affects lives long term

I think you are making too light of many cases of "normal virus". In the winter of 1997/98 there was a particular nasty version of the flu going around. Most people I know caught it even if they had a flu shot. Maybe only home for a couple of days but like the 'long haulers' you had aches and pains, sinus issues and no energy for a month or more.

I dont even remember the 97/98 flu season. Worked in a call center back then and generally caught whatever was going around. I'm sure I got it, was not scared of it, and completely recovered.
Nobody was scared in 97/98. Today, me and most people on the planet are scared of this virus. Big difference. We are rightly scared. If it does not kill you, you will probabbly deal with it the rest of your life. That sucks

I agree nobody should be shaming anyone else for not wearing a mask, UNLESS they are in a business that requests that the masks be worn. That's how free association works. Don't like the masks, don't patronize the business.

Have you heard that the transmission route for SarsCov2 is fecal/oral? How many times on the other board have you seen it mentioned that people just don't wash their hands when they come out of a stall in public bathrooms, and then go handle casino chips? It is well established that some of the worst bacterial/viral contact surfaces in public are grocery cart and door handles. I think part of the reason that the numbers are declining is due to the use of hand sanitizer, as well as disinfectants getting used on contact surfaces, and more hand washing, not so much masks.

It makes sense to me that people in care facilities were dying or getting this virus at a much higher rate then other people. Especially those that are bed ridden or need assistance relieving their bowels, because they aren't washing their hands. One article said, if your toothbrush is in your bathroom and the bristles are exposed to the air, when the toilet gets used some of the feces is aerosolized and lands on your toothbrush. Earlier during the pandemic it was in the news that a swab test or even a blood or saliva test, is a post infection test. To find out the rates prior to infection for a community, researchers should be checking at the wastewater treatment plants, as some did.

Fauci slammed Rand Paul on every point today at the Senate hearing. Fauci was barely polite about it compared to what his demeanor usually is. Seemed he was likely tired of Paul's making such claims.

Or as this headline put it.

So Fauci's true democratic colours are showing and he is starting to campaign for the Dems. What a surprise.

Fauci easily dismantled Paul
Cmon
Paul is all about politics
Fauci is about science
Paul challenging Fauci on science due to politics is just sad
I will always believe the scientific consensus regardless of politics.

I dont understand the conservative hate for Fauci. He works for Trump. Demand that Trump fire him. Fauci is where he is because of Trump. Trump can easily fire Fauci but he doesn't. Why? If you dont like Fauci's message, why are conservatives not blaming Trump?????????????

I thought Paul's accusations were at least legitimate at face value and actually the best attack arguments that have been made. They weren't the more ridiculous claims.

But Fauci still dismantled them.
