Hmm...that might not be so great, depending on where one stands on the masks. I guess it's still basically up to the states, and certainly individual businesses (as it should be) anyway.

The reason that I say maybe not so great, if you're a person who is really big on the masks (I'm not) is that I think many places will just start taking it for granted that people are vaccinated. I mean, are you really going to go around asking everyone who is not wearing a mask for some kind of proof?

I'm not worried about it, either way. I did finally get the vaccine just because I was tired of being bothered about it.

I'll probably wear a mask indoors for the foreseeable future.
Too me it's really minor

I honestly stopped wearing my mask inside about a week after my second shot. (I know you are supposed to wait two weeks). I feel safe. In fact things are in general cleaner and more sanitized, so it's probably safer than ever.

I will always wear my mask when required. I don't work somewhere that requires masks in the office so I do not wear it. But, if at a store I will if there is a posting. Or if somebody makes a reasonable request I will put one on.

To me, I am at a place where I feel personally safe, but I will still follow company policies (when in stores or bars, etc...) and social norms to make others feel safe if required or requested.

Obviously a limited sample size, but last year is the only one I can remember not getting strep throat at least once. Or, much of anything else, for that matter. It relies on most people wearing masks, though, so this is one of those rare instances where I will probably just default to whatever it seems like most people are doing.

I also see the masks as an extremely minor inconvenience. If I'm honest, they've only really inconvenienced me on one occasion because I needed gas and misplaced my mask. They were fine with me just putting my shirt over my nose and mouth and just buying one of their masks, though.

At this point, if you aren’t vaccinated with at least your first shot, you have only yourself to blame. Vaccines are readily available now all over the place with no appointment needed.

So yeah, if the CDC says it’s cool for vaccinated people to stop wearing masks, I’ll gladly stop wearing a mask.

If you aren’t vaccinated but want to pretend like you are so you don’t have to wear one: Good luck. You will have no sympathy from me if you or a loved one gets sick or dies.

When everyone around you is wearing masks then you’re doing your part to stop the spread, but the mask basically helps people who wear them from spreading the disease if you get it. One person wearing a mask around a whole bunch of people without them is not particularly safe unless you switch to a true N95 like hospital workers use.

Also the 3 ply masks were never meant to insure enough safety without social distancing.

And that’s why it’s easier to just get vaccinated.

Good for you. I don't think it will be long until most places do not require the mask but those who want to wear it still can.

The CDC just published a new recommendation that it is safe for unvaccinated people to demask everywhere (interior and exterior), so that is correct. I live in a State that has never had a mandate, but most stores (especially corporate owned) aggressively enforce mask polices. So, it will be no different than before for me, it will be a matter of following whatever the company policy is (or choosing to shop somewhere else etc...)

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html
"Update that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance " -CDC-

So you are probably right, my guess is most companies will phase it out over the next few weeks.

This is a real question for you TP not a hassle. I read the stats by country for Covid pretty much everyday. What has changed in Taiwan? They have been creeping up for a few weeks and had 34 cases yesterday. This is nothing for most countries but they were averaging a case or two a day. Now they are higher than either Australia or New Zealand and apparently talking of locking down. Any insight?
