There are not too many humans; with current tech we can still feed billions more.

As for shutting down: consider it an "incentive" to persuade anti-vaxxers to get stuck: once we're all vaxed things can normalize.

Oh, my understanding is that the original vaccines work on Delta and Mu: they're just easier to catch / transmit.

To all anti-vaxers: Go get the shot you selfish %^!#(.

They are down to 60% effective on Delta in Israel as it was one of the first countries to start vaccinations and the vaccination effectiveness decreases over time. That is why Israel has started booster shots for everyone.

As far as billions more humans I'm glad you don't believe all the too much carbon BS.

Come on Soopoo
More input
How about some dumb people insisting on this or that treatment due to anecdotal stories.
No studies, just stories
I find it absolutely shocking

Ok…. Here goes…. In my career I used LOTS of drugs off patent because it became known BEFORE official studies could be completed that the drugs had efficacy and safety over existing therapies. I was NOT an outlier; it was quite common. A good example is the use of drugs in pregnancy…. it is virtually impossible to round up enough pregnant women for ANY drug trial. Propofol was used during C Sections for years before it was ‘approved’, as best I can recall. Practitioners knew it’s advantages overall over sodium Pentothal, and it de facto became the drug of choice.

As far as for COVID-19, I tend to agree with you. People WANT whatever drug they are talking about to work. No one starts a study hoping they are wrong! I’ve read a few of the actual studies on Ivermectin, and like many other treatments being tried, it might help a little. I don’t think it is quackery to keep investigating it. But those claiming it is a game changer are just unrealistically hopeful.

As far as fentanyl, I am of course aware that used as an illegal drug to get high it can be fatal. My point is that in the hospital it is used safely every day.

This quote is from the CBC in Canada on an article about Israel that is 5 days old.

"Meanwhile, Israeli health officials reported what appeared to be a waning efficacy of the vaccine, including among those who had been double vaccinated. Data showed that of the serious cases being admitted to hospital, around 60 per cent of patients were people who had been fully vaccinated, though most were over 60 or with underlying health conditions."

They started doing booster shots a while ago on their older population and now are providing booster down to 30 years old. They currently have the highest daily rate of Covid per capita in the world and were the first country to get over 50% vaccinated.

Decision time for all countries. We aren't going to reach herd immunity with vaccines. We either lock down for the foreseeable future or let Covid run its course and accept the deaths.

Kind of weird finding.

Researchers discovered an enzyme that is genetically related to a key enzyme in snake venom and was found in COVID-19 fatalities in doses 20 times the safe amount.

Well, the experiment is already afoot. Some states here are avoiding shutdowns, and others aren't, and everything in between. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Desantis got it right, the numbers prove it.
Oldest most vulnerable population in the country & Florida is in the bottom half of deaths per million.
Florida should be in the top ten based on population vulnerability.
But unlike Whitmer, DeSantis didn't import Covid into nursing homes.
Unlike Whitmer, DeSantis distributed the vaccine to the most vulnerable first.

lol... amazing how effective GOP governors are at turning their states into third world countries!

Keep drinking the DeSantis Kool-Aid jcw.

I CANNOT WAIT for some rightie to respond to this post explaining why Florida’s current horrible Covid hospitalization and death numbers *actually* aren’t that bad. (Spoiler alert: they are.)

Compare his response to covid to that of his master, the orange oaf.

Covid caught Trump by surprise and his inability to deliver us from this evil contributed to his loss.

DeSantis however deliberately used covid as a politicized weapon, betting the farm that his do-nothing response, seemingly in lockstep with Trump, would propel him forward.
