| OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1789 | LMAO, That tweet is dreadfully ambiguous. It implies that young vaccinated folk are causative in the spread of omicron. "The omicron epidemic is being driven by young, vaccinated people, according to mounting data from countries as diverse as the UK, Denmark and South Africa" I apologise for the low standard of this UK news agency. Here's a non paywalled version of the article which gives more data https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/news/world/covid-19-omicron-wave-driven-by-young-healthy-vaccinated-population/ Some vaccination stats https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55274833 Very few of our young vaccinated folk have had a booster. Something like 70% have had one or more dose. 81% of the over 12s have had two doses, especially the oldies So, without doing any mathematical analysis.... There is very little data as yet anyway. Which age range has the most social mobility? Under 50s? Which age range has snotty nosed kids bringing the vaccine home? Under 50s? It rather appears to me that omicron is very good at bypassing the defences from vaccination. I accept that as likely. So...... re-write as ""The omicron epidemic is being driven by young, vaccinated people" Young people, vaccinated or not, should knuckle down to all viable ways of avoiding infection. Mask up and reduce social mobility is how we did it in 2020. And TEST TEST TEST, because that is free and easy here. |

I'm seeing everything to see in the country Just doing it safely because I am very aware of the knuckle draggers that are unvacinated and making indoor crowds dangerous Regardless Loving life Just visited the USS Lexington Walked all over that aircraft carrier Talked to a Trumper in a cabin he was renting to do a nearby job. Told him I was traveling all over the country unarmed and venturing into cities He was blown away He said he watches the news and its dangerous out there, especially cities. I laughed. I told him its all right-wing media BS Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Wrong indeed. On two scores. I don't accept the assertion that I'm protected. I've done what i can, but accept that I'm still at considerable risk of infection and a follow on risk to my vulnerable family members. So I will endeavour to avoid infection. I'm not coming around. in my fundamental beliefs. There are some selfish idiots out there. I'm constantly reminded of that. I am coming to care less and less (almost nothing at all) about those who neither care about me, themselves, or their own social circles and families. I don't even care if they live or die or whether they kill those possibly innocent family or social contacts. (I'm not wishing death on anyone. That's for others to do.) I could have agreed with that Colorado Governor if he had made his proclamation before omicron arrived. But now he's only half right when he says "At this point, if you haven’t been vaccinated, it’s really your own darn fault.” That bit was true. But if his hospitals get over-run and medical facilities fail, then that will be an emergency whether he agrees or not. Is the virus scary? yes and no. Dangerous and to be avoided, respected and eliminated as best we can. A bloody nuisance like those who lend it legs. |

| OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1789 | In a harsh world, that might work, But we Brits are used to our hospitals treating self inflicted damage just as they treat victims of assault. Maybe some of the antivaxxers are aligned with a mindset where the self harming, drug addicts, suicide attempters, risk takers etc should be turned away or charged extra? There would be a certain irony in that alignment if it exists. I don't yet advocate such heartlessness. But in a nation with finite centrally financed health service (NHS) AND a parallel health service of private fee based hospitals, I could accept having our NHS telling the self imposed higher risk group to 'go away: go private'. So those folk meet market forces head on. Also sadly, An infected fool turned away untreated, would probably just carry on circulating till he died or recovered. |

Totally agree with you just like we should have turned away all the gay aids patients from hospitals when they were having unprotected sex. Probably shouldn't allow TP into a hospital travelling around the country and taking all the extra risk of catching Covid, let alone the unnecessary addition of thousands of miles driving creating an increased risk of getting into a traffic accident. | OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1789 | Heeeeyyyyy. I disagree with AMS $:o) How odd. Should they turn away straight men that have lots of unprotected sex and get aids or an sti?, too? If not. Why not? Should they turn away everybody that could be in any way responsible for his own injury or affliction? Why turn them away if they are paying customers at the hospital? Just charge them what they cost? I thought you guys had self pay medical care? So if terapined chose to take a rocket into space,,, bad analogy..... decided to swap his RV for a Harley and chose to ride fast and free, why can't he just pay the price out of his bankroll or insurance if he gets hurt? It should be this brit that agrees, since those folk would get the social health care that I pay for but seldom use* * I lied. I seem to be forever at Accident and Emergency with some self inflicted diy injury, such as broken fingers, or angle grinded arm, or whatever. |

I only agreed with him cause it was such a lame false equivalence with enough giant logical holes to drive a truck through, that I knew it wasn’t worth even elaborating on. Better to just smile and nod and deny him the satisfaction. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |
