you're right - my bad - I apologize

I looked again and the other estimates I saw that showed that high number dead were from Ukranian sources and are not likely to be reliable

.

No need to apologize. I probably spend close to two hours per day reading and studying what is going on in that conflict. If you want the best source in my opinion, go to the website Institute For The Study Of War.

Russia has been hit by its biggest civil protest since Putin invaded Ukraine - with 10,000 taking to the streets and violent clashes breaking out over the jailing of an anti-war activist. Riot police and demonstrators were involved in battles and a number of 'wounded' were reported at the protest in the small town of Baymak, Bashkortostan, a rural region of Russia near the Ural mountains. The protest was sparked following the jailing of a prominent anti-war activist, who was sentenced to four years in prison for 'inciting hatred.'

Some interesting news today. GPS signals lost over most of Poland and some of Lithuainia, The current assumption is that the Russians may be testing a new large scale jammer. If true, that would be significant as many smart weapons use GPS for guidance.

Mongolia's former President mocks Putin's historical claim with a historical claim of his own.

I was looking at the post about the protests with no attribution of the quote. I was going to read the article.

Was watching a segment of "60 minutes" Sunday and Russia has dropped thousands of these "whirlybird" style mines. They only weigh 2 ounces, but are powerful enough to blow your foot or lower leg off.

It was the first time that a top Biden administration official has publicly indicated that the U.S. is considering the policy shift. Previously, the U.S. has said it wouldn’t allow Ukraine to attack targets on Russian territory with ATACMS missiles or other U.S. weapons.
Blinken’s remarks follow statements from a string of European officials who said they favor allowing Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons against targets on Russian territory that Moscow has been using as a staging ground for its invasion.

I’ve heard no particular strategy for the slow introduction of more weapons and more freedom to use them except the idea to not escalate the war out of control, but I think a case could be made that Russia doesn’t have the same all-out capability that they had in the beginning. Any full scale attack they could make would no longer have the same effect it would have had in the beginning, unless of course, they go nuclear.

Based on Russia’s early performance, seems like Russia had too many paper pushing generals, or were checking boxes instead of actual training. They did have a core of trained people, but apparently not a lot of depth in numbers for extended war with many divisions involved.
