I wish! With my reasonable 0.01% management fee. My point which may have gone over your head, is how LITTLE it would take to ‘buy’ Greenland IF the actual Greenlanders were allowed to INDIVIDUALLY accept the money. Put it to a vote. You don’t think half + 1 accept $1 million per inhabitant?

Probably be a bit more complicated. Google tellls me: The most expensive property in Greenland is typically found in the capital city, Nuuk. Luxury housing prices in Nuuk can start at around $589,000, with the highest-priced home sold for $1.25 million in 20181.

It’s a great deal for those with not much money.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A former FBI informant who fabricated a story about President Joe Biden and his son Hunter accepting bribes that became central to Republicans’ impeachment effort was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison.

Alexander Smirnov pleaded guilty last month in Los Angeles federal court to tax evasion and lying to the FBI about the phony bribery scheme in what prosecutors say was an effort to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election

Probably will be pardoned.

So apparently there was a (successful) bipartisan effort to give additional social security benefits to a large swath of retired government workers. Biden signed the bill so it is law. But NOWHERE did I see how it will be paid for! The only financial note I saw mentioned that it will bankrupt the Social Security trust fund 1 to 2 years sooner than previously predicted. I just hate how easily the government spends money it doesn’t have. No mention of increasing FICA tax to pay for it. No mention of cutting the rest of us 1% to pay for it. Just IGNORE that you spent hundreds of billions of dollars with NO INTENTION of paying for it.

I DON’T CARE if it was the ‘right’ thing to do. ALL new spending should either require a new source of revenue OR a corresponding decrease in spending elsewhere. Kind of like what we responsible people do in our own budgets.
Did these people pay into SS and get denied the benefits due to notions about "double dipping" being too generous? I have not seen a thing about these details

Many Hollywood stars were forced to evacuate their mansions...

Boo hoo, cry me a river. Sorry, I know this sounds harsh, but I don't feel sorry for any of the libbies in California (especially the celebrities) because they're the ones who voted for Gabbin Newscum and that idiot LA mayor, and they did literally nothing to try and avoid this situation. Heck, conservatives even tried to recall Gabbin a few years ago, but the libbies said, "Nope! We still got you Gabbin!!!" So go cry somewhere else. 😒

Btw, does anyone else think these fires seem a little fishy? Kinda like the Maui fires??

By ‘fishy’ do you mean deliberately set by Conservatives to punish the wealthy liberals who live there?

If there is some problem with wealthy people not being able to insure their homes in California, there's still no excuse not to have as many fire safes as they need to protect smaller valuables.

If the insurance companies are unwilling to insure your house against fire, might that not be a clue that you DON’T WANT TO LIVE THERE?

In other news, I just logged on to my brokerage account, and found out the stock markets are closed today! As is the post office. In ‘honor’ of Jimmy Carter. Such stupidity. No reason AT ALL to close things down for an ex President’s natural death at 100.
What percentage of people who got a free day off are ‘mourning’ Jimmy Carter? 1%? Maybe 2%?

Celebrity podcaster and neuroscientist Andrew Huberman has filmed what he believes to be people lighting fires in downtown Los Angeles.....

I don't remember this but it is what happens

Quote:
the tradition of shutting down the market to mourn the passing of a president — or a British monarch — dates back more than a century. In 1885, the stock exchange closed for a day for the funeral of former President Ulysses S. Grant. The stock market also closed for a day for the funerals of other dignitaries, including Queen Victoria, former President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr

Bush Sr was the last one to die, right? But I don't remember much about it.
