$25k? I’d bet it was easily more than $1 million. Added security costs are ridiculous, but necessary.

I’ve relayed this story before. I was in DC for a conference during Obama administration. Was just walking from hotel to a restaurant. A zillion cops are on the streets not letting anyone cross the streets. So I stood and watched. A bunch of motorcycles stream by. Followed by a bunch of black SUVs. Then the presumed Presidential limo. Then more cars and motorcycles AND an ambulance. I chatted with one of the bored stiff cops. He said Obama was going out to dinner. And this was one of THREE motorcades with the same security contingent, two being imposters. I can’t imagine what that $100 steak cost us! But if someone takes the most dangerous job in the world, we have to protect him.

That being said, I’m ok with the Trump Daytona whirl. If you asked the fans there’s bet over 90% were happy with the expenditure.

And the examples listed that started this conversation are egregious, and of course likely just the tip of the iceberg.

Protecting the President, no matter where he is and no matter what he is doing is a right an proper charge upon the nation, so we should not complain.

I don’t think she will. It would appear (and likely be!) another example of politics superseding the will of the people. He was elected. By a vast majority. Was in good stead in the Democrat Party until he started sounding rational by criticizing the Biden administration on the border disaster. Then he got charged with crimes. I think all charges have been dropped.

I said this about Trump. There is an election soon for Mayor. Let the people decide if he’s fit to be mayor. Not the grossly incompetent governor!
Whatever you think of the result, the People decided Trump was going to be President. Not a bunch of whiney ass crybaby Democrat politicians. Let the people of NYC decide.

It will be super fun in Cuomo tries to run against Adams!

If there's a process for the governor to remove Adams then maybe she should consider it if it's within her prerogative to do so.

UPDATE: The city charter provides a mechanism for the governor to suspend and then fire the mayor: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/02/18/how-can-nyc-mayor-eric-adams-be-removed/79067282007/

The people elected the mayor. The people also elected the governor and this is within the governor's power.

The problem with what they did is, if I said hey SOOPOO I'm going to cancel your upcoming trial. Only thing is, I can reinstate the charges at will. Hey maybe you can help me out with a few things. Okay? Be a good boy, we'll get along fine.

Mayor is basically blackmailed right now.

I don't think you get the irony of a President making massive cuts to the federal government and firing everyone while he treats himself.

Had he run on something different l wouldn't bother to make the comparison.

"Treat himself?" The man is working for free. Get over it that he makes some appearances, all POTUSs do that.

What I don't get is how upset some people get about outright waste being cut.

He doesn't get points for donating his salary to charity. None whatsoever. And we shouldn't use his willingness and ability to do so as some electability standard.

Right now he hasn't cut a single penny in "waste". He;s only cut spending he doesn't like. And there's a big difference.

Hardly, from his last presidency

In particular, this report
highlights how a glimpse through a narrow window—11 months of records from a single Trump
owned hotel—is enough to identify more than $300,000 in payments he accepted that raise the
appearance of corruption and pay-to-play. These payments came from state officials and one
state legislature, individuals who held federal jobs in his administration or were nominated by
him to be federal judges, and individuals who sought and received clemency for criminal
convictions, as well as the U.S. Secret Service. More than half of these payments totaling nearly
$175,000 may have directly violated—or, in the case of Secret Service expenditures, definitely
violated—the Constitution’s prohibition against a president’s receipt of domestic emoluments.
All of these payments created the appearance of the very kind of pay-to-play and influence
trafficking schemes that the Framers and two-and-a-half centuries of anti-corruption legislation
have sought to eradicate.

Boohoo. You support the biggest criminal liar, President. Do your own research.

You won't (and cannot) provide a source because you know you are WRONG and you are too small of a person to admit it.

Typical libtard.

Crazed Biden Judge Signals She May Block Trump’s EO on Transgender Troops, Says the Assertion That Only Two Genders Exists is “Not Biologically Correct”

Quote:
A federal judge on Tuesday signaled she would side with a group of transgender soldiers who sued to block President Trump’s executive order on transgender troops.

Judge Ana Reyes, a Biden appointee, grilled DOJ lawyers on Tuesday and said that Trump’s executive order asserting there are only two genders is “not biologically correct.”

It could be the person's way to ask for personal help.

Like a way to get craved attention, possibly because of loneliness, of the path that was chosen by the person.

I'd send the person to a psychiatrist while showing compassion before the person negatively affects other citizens.

If a superior judge overrules the person, it might make the person look inside to find a solution, as opposed to thinking the rest of the world has the issue.
