Years ago I picked up a book at a Las Vegas library written by a gambler. Pages upon pages, none of it explaining anything useful. I managed to finish the first two chapters, but couldn’t take any more.

I don't know if the Gambler's Book Store still exists in Las Vegas but that place used to be a treasure trove. I remember spending a lot of time and money there before the internet was popular.

What "bills" has he not paid. Cutting waste is not "not paying your bills." It is a business decision like an owner saying he is no longer going to give his entry level salespeople Cadillacs on the company because doing such is waste. It is like laying off people not needed because business is slow.

For some reason, the left wingers think government spending simply can't be waste because "it was approved in the budget." They also seem to be taking the "concede not an inch" approach to things. They think that Mr. and Mrs. America like seeing wasteful spending same as they like men in women's sports same as they want millions of illegal aliens crossing the border. A rude awakening in 2024 was not enough for them, they hit the snooze.

Basically what I wanted to say. People like Geno can type away here, not realizing the real world has passed them by. He keeps saying stuff isn’t waste because it was legally authorized under the Biden administration. Amazingly, someone is actually rooting out that crap now.

In one interesting turn, Musk has asked all federal employees to send him an email listing 5 good things they did last week. Sounds like a 3rd grade assignment. One high level guy told his employees NOT to respond. Using the reason that there is a chain of command that the employees are supposed to honor. I like that thinking. I’m wondering what musk is going to do with the MILLIONS of emails he wanted? MUSK might be working gratis, but whoever he has sifting through emails ain’t free! Maybe DOGE fires the email readers Musk will be hiring!?!

OF COURSE the concept of DOGE is great! The implementation? Not going so smoothly!

I can see some of the answers!

Employee: "Well, I spend my day taking the applications for assistance form the person to the social worker!"

Musk: "I have to ask, why can't the social worker just take the application from the person themselves?"

Employee: "Well........because........ I have people skills! Social workers......... are not good at dealing with people!"

Musk supposedly gave the same assignment to Twitter employees when he took over. Probably is what showed he could sack half of them with no loss in productivity. Really, most will just be glanced at at best. The idea is to get people understanding that just because you work for the feds does not mean you can be a lump pushing paper. You have to produce something of value.

I knew someone years ago who was a Sergeant with the 42nd Infantry Division that liberated Dachau.
