Why should I trust what Hegseth says, as it doesn't even make sense to pause intel on Russia which Trump confirmed? No one I've heard so far has made a rational defense of what kind of negotiating tactic that is. In fact, all I've heard is the opposite.

It's also quite possible that Hegseth is not telling us some facts, Such as Trump initially ordered it, but Hegseth convinced him stopping cyber was a bad idea. The order leaked but never got implented. Not exactly the truth, but CYA for Hegseth.

Hegseth probably doesn't want to make his boss look like the idiot he is, but doesn't want to make himself one either.
