Hardly. He was prosecuted because there was evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed one or more crimes alleged, and his due process rights were protected. As far as we know, neither conditions have been met for any Dem public figure pardoned by Joe. Even Susan Wiles admits retaliatory prosecution. Under your rules, no DA of an opposing party to a public figure should ever prosecute a public figure under any circumstances. You MAY be the most anti-Santos guy here, and wanted the Jan 6 insurrectionists executed, but you also support the man who pardoned them all. |

I guess Dem overlords can't stand the idea of their share getting cut off either and tell these people to 'go for it' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8lnl2MFiJw I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

But of course most of the records will vanish. The highest total stolen I've read so far has been upped from $8 billion to $14 billion. We might could buy Somali for that. But whom would want her? It's a money losing proposition. Glad we dodged a bullet with Walz and Harris. |

| DoubleGold Member since: Jan 26, 2023 Threads: 34 Posts: 4237 | Nothing substantial will happen with all this fraud: I figure $38 trillion is the total of the previous fraud, counting interest. The entire system is designed to allow theft from taxpayers, protected by corrupt judges and attorneys. Maybe we can prevent the corrupt bureaucrats for stealing more then they already are. At least slow them down. If we stopped all new fraud, the $38 trillion in previous fraud will turn in to $50 trillion very quickly. But the new fraud will continue because there are not many ways to remove the massive numbers of criminal bureaucrats since the corrupt judges are in on it. The only way I see how to do it, is to impeach all the corrupt judges first, like another country did. Otherwise, it won't be long before the fraud amount hits $200 trillion. ![]() |

| DoubleGold Member since: Jan 26, 2023 Threads: 34 Posts: 4237 | About two million folks showed up to celebrate the New Year, not too far from me [Copacabana]: The drones came from the sea side not the land side, so the sky was lit up with a Jesus Christ image over the Atlantic. It beat the Guinness record for the most celebrating NYE at one place. ------------ "This year, drones formed the image of the Christ the Redeemer statue emerging from the Atlantic. The display involved 1,200 drones, synchronized with fireworks and a special soundtrack by DJ Alok, as part of the city’s effort to highlight its cultural and artistic significance." ------------ ![]() Here's the video of Christ coming out of the ocean: https://x.com/claudiosavoia/status/2006983469222748357 And Christ the Redeemer statue above the clouds: https://x.com/_fluxfeeds/status/2000201329357033624 It's good to be in a Christian country. Something to think about. I missed the celebration since we were in a town the Swiss settled in the state in 1818. We were about 4,000-5,000 feet elevation, although a peak close by was 7,000 feet. We got plenty of exercise enjoying steep nature and waterfalls. |

| OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1788 | Special Military Operation begins. So, overnight, the US dropped bombs on Venezuela. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/us-carrying-out-strikes-venezuela-us-official-says-2026-01-03/ Fortunately for trump, it's a small country, ill equipped to defend itself, unlike Ukraine. For now. So was Cuba in the 50s. It'll deflect the headlines away from epstein or the dementia. Then I guess you'll have to invade Greenland, Canada or California. Venezuela's allegiances are weak, but include all the traditional adversaries of the US. Russia Political, military, economic Continues to provide military support; condemned US actions. China Political, economic Urged restraint from the US; focused on recovering past loans. Iran Political, military Condemned US military actions; expressed solidarity with Venezuela. Turkey Political, diplomatic Maintains diplomatic ties; supports Venezuela's sovereignty. Cuba Political, military Strongly condemned US actions; expressed solidarity with Maduro. Shame on trump. Shame on your Congress for authorising this act of war ( I know. I know ). Shame on your brave military for this illegal act of war. And shame on you who voted for this. |

| OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1788 | And in this fast moving story... “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country,” he wrote on Truth Social. I searched for precedents of seizure of foreign leaders and came up with... "One notable precedent is the arrest of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1998 in London, based on a Spanish judge's request for extradition related to human rights violations. This case established the principle of "universal jurisdiction," allowing countries to prosecute individuals for serious crimes regardless of where they were committed." So, by that principle of "universal jurisdiction" maybe someone could seize Hegseth or trump and put them on trial for murder of Venezuelan seamen, or for the death or destruction at the Venezuelan military sites? |

He was wanted for crimes in the United States as he has been indicted by the the Southern District of New York a few years back. Presumably he will stand trial on those charges. I can’t imagine, however, that this will turn out well. I must have missed Hegseth and Trump being charged with any crimes in the actions you mention. I think it is bad precedent to set in going after foreign leaders in their own countries. It will be interesting to see if any of our ‘allies’ come out in support of this action. |
