now you know, me too, which I will no doubt soon forget

To pronounce Nguyễn (Nguyen), aim for a single syllable that sounds like "Nwin" or "Nwing," blending the "Ng" (like in "singer") with a vowel sound similar to "win," varying slightly by region (North: closer to "Nweeng," South: closer to "Nwing/Nweeng" with a slight nasal dip). Avoid two syllables like "New-yen," as Vietnamese is tonal and monosyllabic; the diacritic (~) adds a lilt, making it sound like "Weeng?" or "Win?" with a subtle rising/falling tone.

My hands are chapping from the cold. I don't doubt my wife has something to use, but I don't want to smell like that is likely to have me smelling. So I ordered the type for workers and notice many of these skin products carefully claim they are "cruelty free". I had to see what the hell that was about ... I think we can say women get into some weird hangups these days

AI Overview
Skin products are advertised as cruelty-free
to meet growing consumer demand for ethical, humane products that are not tested on animals... "cruelty-free" refers to the lack of animal testing, not necessarily the absence of animal-derived ingredients (which would be "vegan")

I asked if the Guthrie kidnappers could keep authorities from getting ransom back paid in bitcoin

the answer says yes "but" ... so I wonder if kidnappers could demand something special, like a certain amount of time going by before attempts are made to recover ... otherwise they kill. Didn't ask that

Yes, authorities can—and often do—recover Bitcoin paid in kidnapping or ransomware cases, although it is not guaranteed and depends on rapid, sophisticated action. While Bitcoin is decentralized and transactions are generally irreversible, the public ledger (blockchain) creates a permanent record that law enforcement can trace

I would guess the kidnapper(s) is not sophisticated enough to safeguard against what he is up against.

Quote:
1. Tracing the On-Chain Transaction
The Bitcoin blockchain is a transparent public ledger. Once a transfer is confirmed, anyone can use a block explorer to trace the following:
Wallet Addresses: The sender and receiver's unique alphanumeric identifiers.
Transaction Path: Exactly which "coins" (UTXOs) moved from one address to another, allowing investigators to follow funds through multiple hops.
Metadata: Timestamps and the exact amount of Bitcoin transferred.
2. Tracing the Network Signal (IP Address)
While the blockchain itself does not store your IP address, the "signal" sent when you first broadcast a transaction can sometimes be traced:
Peer-to-Peer Monitoring: Because Bitcoin uses a gossip protocol to spread transactions, sophisticated nodes can "listen" for when a transaction first appears and log the IP address of the source node.
Service Logs: If you use a web wallet or an exchange, those companies often log your IP address and link it to your real-world identity through KYC (Know Your Customer) records.
Node Clustering: Analytics firms use "cluster analysis" and pattern recognition to group related addresses and potentially reveal a user's physical location or ISP.

Of course I’m assuming our FBI has gainfully employed the expertise by now.
