The problem is every rescue air party sent just puts the rescue party at risk of also being shot down. I am not familiar with this situation yet (the second aircraft downed, first I am hearing of it.). I’ll bet you this…. I’ve written to my elected officials more than any other active DT member. And personally met with them more as well.

But not on this issue. My writing anything to Chuck Shumer or my Liberal Democrat Congressman adds nothing. They will be against anything Trump does no matter what. So it would be a waste of time.

I remind you of the complete apoplexy that he US pullout of Afghanistan caused to the right when those service members were wounded and killed. MAGA and the GOP wanted Biden's head on a platter for that. They still do. I assume you publicly wrote sarcastically about how "we should be shocked that there are American casualties" then?

Trump recently told us to our face that the war has been won, that the Iranian air defenses were decimated / obliterated, that we had complete air superiority, implying that our aircraft were flying with impunity over Iran.

How could a defeated adversary with no remaining air defenses possibly shoot down our pilots?

They better pray they don't get captured because we know from his own words Trump has zero regard for downed pilots captured by the enemy.

Apparently Trump is already not taking it seriously, when asked in a phone interview today if this will impact negations, he would not acknowledge the event occuring or comment on rescue operations, but said any such circumstances would not impact any pending deals with Iran because "it's war." ..... Can't make this stuff up....

Hopefully there are still people in the higher levels who care about SMs, but most seem to have been culled.

You had just 3 channels and a city newspaper delivering the news many hours later on the evening news or the next day via newspaper
An editor determined what News to report
News is now delivered via the internet instantly from a variety of sources
It's very competitive
One pilot death is huge News because because it gets a massive amount of clicks
The public now determines what News stories are important
I see a News story about a pilot killed, I'm clicking on that story
Internet News sources are competing for those clicks
If a story isn't getting clicks , it's because nobody is interested
Whatever gets the most clicks gets reported first
News sources delivered via the internet will prominently report whatever the public clicks on the most

Me... Last spring I wrote to the incumbent local councillor and his main two opponents in the local election to challenge them on a few local issues. Only one replied, so I berated the others on FB :)

This talk of a mission to take Iran's enriched Uranian sounds ridiculous. Mortars alone can cover 5 miles. Iran will likely blow up the entrance as soon as our forces are on the ground. How many mortars alone can you hide around a 5 mile radius. They could even hit it with one of their ballistic missiles.

No danger at all of them damaging anything even if they bomb their own site. It's too deep.

Maybe US plans to clean the surrounding area with an enormous number of bombs. I would love to hear the actual plan.
