Success has nothing to do with quality. There are plenty of mouth breathers out there who will always think shows like Matlock and Quincy are just great. And Bones. 12 seasons of pure drek. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I feel asleep during Gravity. Nuff said.. You're also over 50 now, welcome to pre-senior life. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

That film seems to scream "small screen". |

Wearing head phones and shooting at paper is all fine and dandy, but in the real world its human targets and they are shooting back and blood, gore, noise and confusion is everywhere. And the consequences for reacting to blood, gore, noise and confusion is death. |

I thought the guinea pig would have a bigger role. hehe It was disappointing. The best gags were all in the trailer. The theater I saw it in was crowded (~75% full) for late on a Sunday night. If anyone is considering this for their pre-K kids, think twice. There are multiple car chases, scary scenes in the sewer, near drownings, and a character gets killed. |

I don't know if I talked about it before here, but there is an old movie I saw as a kid about beavers. It was very Disney-like about the happy happy life of a couple of beavers until unexpectedly a grisly scene where our hero gets run through with a spike and skinned. Much of the story in the new Star Trek movie revolves around an old starship that predates the events in the TV show "Enterprise". The writer's tried very hard to make the "timeline" work, so there are many references to the "Enterprise" TV show since that was supposed to be a prequel to the original 60's Star Trek show. Here's some trivia: The registry number of this old starship (NX-326) is a reference to a beloved Star Trek character. What is the connection? ![]() This is a spoiler tag. I also thought the film had too many scenes in dark areas that made the 3-D worthless (I saw it in a "Real3D" equipped theater, but doubt that IMAX 3-D would be better). There was also a big hullaballoo made about the gay Sulu. In the film it was really a non-event. As the way it was played, his "husband" could have been interpreted as his brother or college roommate. I suspect this may have been done purposefully to get the film past morality censors in international markets. |
