You make my point for me. Is it of ‘such severity’? That is a SUBJECTIVE DECISION. Politician A will say yes. Politician B will say no.

Here is my more detailed answer. If the localities KNEW that they would never receive federal help for these ‘disasters’, they would plan better. But knowing the Feds will ride in on white horses to save the day allows the localities to NOT prepare adequately. What is reasonable preparation a locality should have in place? Of course that’s subjective as well.

You haven't answered the question, as usual. You know why? As usual, you know nothing about the topic at hand.

I am completely okay with the Feds riding in on their white horses when a severe blizzard overwhelms Buffalo or Boston, or when an Earthquake destroys buildings and infrastructure in CA, or when the Mississippi overtops its banks and completely deluges the floodplains for miles, or when a hurricane huffs and puffs and blows the houses down in FL. A purposeful and legit use of federal dollars. When certain things are left to states, clusterfucks ensues.

I'd just as soon never again having Musk making decisions affecting people at the mass level like he did with FEMA and other government programs. He may run his company ruthlessly firing someone as some master of efficiency, but he did cuts like people are just cogs in one massive machine.

Aside from that, there were much more sane ways to do things. They could have created an online USAiD site with a breakdown of each entity, the funding and what it was doing, and when it was approved. So people could see "hey they just authorized 6 million on a Muppet show in Egypt", when it occurred right there on an easy-to-use website.

Musk basically did that. But people like you said they loved paying for a Muppet Show in Egypt.

Then you shouldn't have any problem with abortion.

It's too early in the morning for you to be an idiot. Wait another 5 minutes, then you can practice all day.

As OG loves the alarmist headlines.

Well, I guess we have to give up then? Oddly, as much as I dislike the alarmism, I was in favor of doing what we can without giving in to crackpot ideas

Instead we just give up?

The climate change alarmism problem DENIERS probably really dislike the Climate Discussion Nexus videos etc. That's a shame because not only do we need discussion but the show really does have a good sense of humor ... boy do they let the Canadian pension people have it in this one! Ah but if it’s your ox getting gored you might want to skip to what I don’t want you to miss, the news about Michael Mann, an unrepentant crackpot and alarmism fiend who was practically the inventor of Lawfare … at least in climate change Alarmism. Tune in at about 4:50 to see how 'what goes around comes around. '

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiNkXufJSDc .

You know, you’ve heard me say it before, but we have to thank a foreign country again here, Canada this time. I think I would have missed this, googling Michael Mann and hitting ‘news’ this story almost doesn't come up, most of what does is about a new movie he is responsible for.

Gotta wonder when the flurry of lawsuits against Camp Mystic will start, or will Texas statutes or courts prohibit any finding of liability for negligently siting a camp at that location?

As people like to point out, I guess they got what the majority voted for. I've been in Kerrville, and on the Guadalupe river.. Flood mitigation would be ridiculously expensive, but a system of what I used to hear as a kid, (civil defense sirens) are a bargain compared to the costs now. You could hear those things for miles.

Kerrville supposed to have the second highest percentage of millionaires.

I got my first electric car, it is pretty amazing. Best car I have ever owned, it is just so fun to drive.
