I got my first electric car, it is pretty amazing. Best car I have ever owned, it is just so fun to drive.

I had an electric car that was fun 50 years ago. Drove it around my parent's house all the time.

Last one I plan to own.

Just don't try to take a long vacation tour in it

I love the ‘no going to a gas station ever’ for my Buffalo Bills themed 4 seater golf cart in the Villages. It has a range of 100 miles on a full charge, so it’s never an issue for me. Just plug it in to a regular socket every 2nd or 3rd night depending on how much I’ve used it.

If I ever buy a car that I won’t be driving more than 200 miles in any day I’ll buy electric. But the thought of making a 1000 mile trip requiring 3 or 4 long stops at a charging place is unappealing. The drive from Buffalo to Florida sucks already…..

It’s driving through the congested North East that is especially unpleasant. I thought driving at 3 AM through and near Virginia/NYC area etc. would be better. But it was almost like rush hour at full speed, but at night.

Wifey found an alternate route. We ‘go west’ a bit. Through Ohio, then Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. It is 1 hour longer by Google Maps but avoids mountainous West Virginia and congested North Carolina.

Those solar panels will be a joke. Just for show. Maybe they run a microwave.

I never trust ‘news’ from Iran, but supposedly Tehran is running out of water. Literally. Good they put their resources into missiles that can attack Israel, funding Hezbollah, and bunkers that can enrich uranium….. while they die of thirst! Can you say ‘desalination’? I guess that doesn’t translate into Farsi.

It has just over a 300 mile range. My daily work commute is like 14 miles, to be generous and say I run random errands/whatever through the day, maybe 20-25 miles a weekday max (and it is rare I drive somewhere other than work, so even 20 miles would be in the minority of days....) I charge it in my garage overnight, always stays charged, and never need to stop at a gas station (I really could charge it one night a week and probably be fine.)

I don't like long drives, if I am going somewhere more than 300 miles, I am 99% flying anyway (or if we do drive I'd be in somebody else's car.) I am not really a road trip person. And, my s/o (lives with me) has a gas car, which if we go somewhere over an hour we are probably (basically always) in that car anyway.

This is the time to buy EV, with the new interest tax rebate and the ending EV 7500 credit, if you buy a (new) EV prior to September 30th, you can take advantage of both benefits during this weird gray period.

If you need to go nowhere fast, you can plan a long drive around tourist attractions. Gives you plenty of time to recharge.

But they are also making some that top up really fast with a short charge though I don’t know what is available on the market yet.
