I don't have a smart phone, by choice: I assume this would make it difficult for me to find an EV charging station while traveling in areas unfamiliar to me?

I say this because I assume there are apps telling travelers where the charging stations are?

I can see why gas stations would not want EV charging stations as it involves a considerable wait and ties up space, but what about putting them at churches?

They have big parking lots, and let the church keep a portion of the EV charging fee.

I wouldn't be surprised if Musk cars have internet connected smart maps at least in some of his cars.

As far charging I don't see why a local farmer or someone in an unincorporated area can't set up a charger and charge people for using it making a small profit. Why leave to just the monopoly of some business giants?

Plus, one could sell fruits or vegetables if a farm. Or maybe some homemade crafts like the farmer's wife might make. Or the farmer's daughter (old jokes)

I love the ‘no going to a gas station ever’ for my Buffalo Bills themed 4 seater golf cart in the Villages. It has a range of 100 miles on a full charge, so it’s never an issue for me. Just plug it in to a regular socket every 2nd or 3rd night depending on how much I’ve used it.

If I ever buy a car that I won’t be driving more than 200 miles in any day I’ll buy electric. But the thought of making a 1000 mile trip requiring 3 or 4 long stops at a charging place is unappealing. The drive from Buffalo to Florida sucks already…..

Tesla is working on an RV that will have solar roof panels that will provide some of its energy.

Those are be useful for road trips when you need to essentially "refill" but if he just uses it for an around town car, letting it slowly charge overnight at home is perfectly fine.

I mean if you can find gas stations while travelling without using a smart phone, you can probably find chargers if needed, you just need to learn where to look. Though modern cars are basically computers, and the display can tell you where to go if you click find charger or whatever that brand has.

Yes, but when traveling unfamiliar roads and in need of gas I search for either freeway signs telling me what is available at the next exit or for known signs of known brands glowing in the distance, e.g. a Chevron or Shell sign which is known to me.

I've not sign any freeway signs or logos specific for charging stations.

For sure casinos should offer them, as while charging up the customer can go inside and...

I have no doubt that more businesses (especially casino type places,) will, perhaps even complimentary to customers. It gives people an excuse to park and hang out there for 30 mins or whatever and spend money.

I do agree, there are not many places that have roadway signs to the same degree as gas stations, but I suspect that will change with time.

I was very reluctant to buy an EV (and frankly I very whimsically did when GF and I stopped to look at cars, it was not well planned out, and fell in love with one.) But, it is simply the best car I have ever owned or driven in (and that is not me being self-dramatic.) It is completely silent, amazing acceleration (0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds,) ungodly smooth (it feels like you are barely moving even when driving way faster than you often should.) It feels like you are driving a high end smart phone if that makes sense. Even owning this car barely a week, when I drive in gasoline cars it is so noticeable now (how it feels bumpy and such.) Anyway that is my sales pitch.

Do you have some conversion to 125v at home? How many miles does it top up to plugged in overnight?

Right now I just use a standard 120v (normal wall outlet,) it is very slow, something like 3-5 mile and hour, but I drive about 14 miles a day, so charging overnight is more than sufficient. I do have the fast charge for my garage pending install (comes with the car,) but it's on backorder, so I have zero idea when it will arrive.

I also have a cord for a 240v (basically a dryer outlet,) which is of course about double the 100, but I don't have such an outlet in my garage, and it's silly to install one when I am getting a proper charger installed.

Topped out is just over 300 miles (fully charged.)
