Biden is asking for a lot more than he expects to get via negotiation.

Best to devote more money to domestic as opposed to militaristic endeavors such as war.

The US has put off investing in infrastructure for far too long: China is way ahead of us now in that regard.

China is also getting ahead of the US in military capacity. Between a rock and a hard place. An old line I have used on the forum before is 'The USA has to start acting less like Romans and more like Italians.

Laugh and chortle all you want. The only thing stopping Biden from spending 8 trillion dollars more this year than the government takes in in tax revenue is the Republican party. The weakening of the Republican party due to Trump is not good for the country.
An estimate of TOTAL federal tax revenue is 3.7 trillion. Biden has no problem presenting MULTIPLE 2+ trillion dollar bills which are of course in ADDITION to the already over 4 trillion we would be spending without the largesse.

Well, Trump kept us out of war!

But save me the "we do not spend enough on infrastructure" line. I have heard it for 40 or more years that I can remember. We will never, ever spend enough to keep the pols and unions happy. Imagine the bang for the buck we would have if not for the pork like mandating union wages instead of taking the best bid.

We have pretty bad infrastructure for a first world country. Of course, the downside of America, it is mostly State or local managed, so your experience can vary.

Personally, I think we need to spend more on the Military and infrastructure. These are not mutually exclusive.

Again, been hearing it all my life. We will be hearing it 50 years from now. We dropped almost 5% of GDP on Obama's stimulus. That should have easily been enough. See, it is about payoffs and money laundering not "infrastructure."

Unions and construction companies give to the lefty pols who get people to think our bridges are falling apart in front of them so they vote for them and their spending so money flows back to campaign contributions then repeat.

Probably because it has been true all of your life. We have many States that are lagging behind in infrastructure (and have been for decades). Many conservatives will say that it is their responsibility to fix it locally, but this is not true, there needs to be Federal Funds.

Most great infrastructure projects were Federally Funded (many by Republicans, including the Federal Highway Act, which was lauded by Republicans, and really
everyone). The truth is, without Federal guidance there is too much inconstancies in State level infrastructure development and maintenance.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Aid_Highway_Act_of_1956

Obama's stimulus contained many things, but only about 100 billion for infrastructure, and that was over 10 years ago.... Trump wanted 1.5 trillion for infrastructure, and Republicans praised the idea, that never passed, now suddenly 2 trillion is way too much? Please its pure politics. (I supported Trump spending that, he could even use 10 billion for his wall, don't care, and I support Biden spending it, I just know that we need more spending urgently).

The Federal government will also need to play a big role in making routes more EV friendly, which will probably involve spending billions on EV installation on routes around the country, there is no market for this to happen organically. But, this is just a small piece of modernizing. Most of it is, yes repaving roads, and rebuilding bridges. Also, massive upgrades to water systems and utilities are needed. And, if you are talking about ensuring that all Americans have 5G access (which can be included in infrastructure), etc.... you can see how this category expands quickly and and extra 100 billion 10 years ago means virtually nothing now (most in America roads have already had to be repaved at least once between then and now, or at least they should have been to keep up with the advised maintenance codes....)

It’s becoming evident that Duffman thinks Donny lost because of his mean tweets. He brings them up all the time.

Mean tweets are way down on the list of reasons Donny’s fat ass is no longer President...
