How much do you expect the stock market to, "Roar back," by? Stock valuations are almost up across the board (and certainly Indexes are) compared with pre Covid-19 numbers, which implies that (as a country) we are in better shape than we were prior to Covid-19...which I think is debatable. I think we both agree that the POTUS doesn't really have much of an influence on the broader market regardless of who the POTUS is, but that being said, where would you expect, for example, the Dow to be right now? I think if we had markets that were more focused on current fundamentals and less on speculation, then they would be down compared to 01/2020, or what have you, and wouldn't have been where they were even then to begin with. That said, the market speculation that basically amounted to, "The end of the world is nigh," that was happening as of 03/2020 and persisted until the end of the shutdowns made it so that people could have some serious gainers by buying based on the fundamentals compared to what the stock prices were...for those willing to assume anything better than a doomsday scenario, anyway. WTF Nobody is punking us. So absurd. The entire planet is preoccupied with domestic problems regarding Omicron. Russia is not invading Ukraine and China is not invading Taiwan Its because Russia and China don't want to poke the USA regardless of who is President You are so absurd. Biden or any President does not scare anybody The US military scares countries regardless of who is President Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Russia is not communist. Drop the barriers and see what happens. As for China, I see them as more of a threat; sort of like Japan pre-WWII; they need resources (oil) and feel it is in their best interest to extend their sphere of influence. China can be held in check much easier if Russia and the West cooperate. |

Maybe as soon as Putin's political opponents and vocal critics stop mysteriously falling out of windows, suffer mob style hits, get killed with KGB grade poisons, or end up in Siberia on nebulous charges it might look a bit more democratic. Russia is a good example of where you end up when you end up when you endorse "the end justify the means". A policy that is usually fully supported by the lefties. No freedom is so important that it can't be sacrificed for the 'good of the people'. "but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin |

I don't believe their dirty tricks justify thinking of them as boogeymen. Russia has a history of being isolated from the west yet wanting to participate to the degree possible on the world stage, from Peter the Great forward. They were our ally in WWII; as we descend as a world power and China ascends we'll need as many strong allies as possible to keep the Chinese in check. Remember the Mongols? They were Chinese and at one time, due to their military prowess, they nearly ruled the known world. Let us not allow that to happen again. |

Now, was it here or on the other side where people got upset when I said beware a law defended as "for the common good?" War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Geopolitically Russia needs to be contained. A saying is "he who controls Eurasia controls the world." Only Russia can control Eurasia at the moment. Because of less than ideal geography and a history of being backwards she never has. Putin is a very strong leader maybe the best they have had since Peter the Great. But like Peter, Putin cannot change this in one generation. However, that is a chance we do not take. The USA plays for keeps in world power. Russia gets friendly with Europe and things change. Hitler had the right idea about extending the railroads and autobahns to Moscow. Do that and you get an area superpower in both resources and industry. Eventually either Russia would dominate the EU or Germany would dominate Russia. In geopower gaming you tend to want to keep balance of power as-is if you are on top. USA is om top so we do not want this, even as our leaders say otherwise. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Did they fire him? Last I saw, they said he would be back next year. And he was absolutely right about DeBlasio. Both libbies and righties hate his guts. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |
