You don't seem to grasp that you are making a positive claim that there is 100% for certain no God. In making such a claim, the exact opposite of mine you bear a burden of proof. What you want is to make a claim with nothing to support it and I'm sorry but you logically cannot do that. You can say that there is not sufficient evidence either way to make a firm decision, but then you have to keep an open mind and continue to examine evidence as it presents itself. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

And they are all convinced that THEIR religion is THE religion. >>No way man, you can't shoplift the pooty. Totally lost here. Perhaps your Jesuit education is beyond my level. >No, to make a claim like that you need evidence and the evidence clearly demonstrates >that there are microbes. Their claims then are false. That is pretty much what many people say about this resurrection stuff. >yeah in rereading my comments I laid it on kind of thick. Yeah we all go to excess on this site on occasion. > The truth is though that Jesus Christ is the most important person in my life, > He has changed everything and continues to be my source of peace, joy, and inspiration. That's fine. My joy and inspiration comes from a good game of Craps. |

Then explain why he tells so many of his believers contradictory things. Why are his followers all over the map with what he's told them. They all claim Jesus is talking to them, all 2500 offshoots of the Christian church. To an outsider it looks like sheer lunacy. A bunch of self deceived starved for attention mentally unstable kooks. You'd think an all powerful god could get this one thing right: Consistency of message. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I don't see you keeping an open mind about the other religions. And what about reincarnation? "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan |

| Dalex64 Member since: Mar 8, 2014 Threads: 3 Posts: 3687 | About evidence: All there are is philosophical arguments which form a hypothesis, with no testable evidence to back it up. None of that "evidence" can be positively attributed to what they claim to be the cause. There is no way to prove that much of what is put forth as evidence acually happened. The rest of it is purely subjective and again there is no way to prove the cause of these subjective experiences and beliefs. So no, the evidence isn't ignored, it is dismissed as irrelevant, inconsistent, contradictory, unconfirmable, and unattributable. "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." | Dalex64 Member since: Mar 8, 2014 Threads: 3 Posts: 3687 | Thank God he killed everyone out of mercy and sent the survivors a rainbow to say he's sorry. Aren't we pretty sure that there was no flood? Or are you saying that even though none of the details are true, it is a fact that god killed nearly everyone at some point? If so, that ranks right up there with the story of genesis not being true, except for adam and eve being real people who really betrayed god. LOL. It is from one of my favorite movies, Jerry Macguire. It is in reference to dating a single mom because you really like the kid. You gotta love both.
There was A Resurrection and that is clear by the fervor of faith in the early Apostles and believers. Something obviously happened to fire them up to the point of giving up everything including their lives, not for a made up story, but because of the true Risen Christ. There is simply no other explanation for the growth of Christianity before the Edict of Milan. Microbes are proven to exist as well so anyone denying their existence is just plain wrong.
I like craps as well as the next bloke too. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

For the majority of time that Christianity has existed there has been only one Church. The Reformation is why there are so many other beliefs. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

I have a very open mind about other religions and have studied them. I find them wanting in many ways and not true.
There are better explanations to what Evenbob points out then reincarnation, but I do believe in an eternal soul. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |
