Or like Hobo says, if you remember the 60's, you didn't live them. : )

The 'sixties' that people refer to was
1966 to about 1973. The early 60's
were just a continuation of the late
50's. It wasn't till 65 that things started
to change, and 66 is when they took
off.

Whew, for a minute I thought I might have missed a few of them, turns out I didn't.

The 60's didn't really get over for me until about 80?

I got to Calif in 1975 and it was over
by then. The war was done, hippies had
moved on, it was the dawn of heavy
metal bands. The peace and love
and LSD movement had run out of
steam. I still saw VW vans all painted
with hippie graffiti, but we mostly just
laughed at them.

I think the sixties were measured in music, literature, rock concerts and riots.

If you knew what Walk Right In Sit Right Down was about, if you embraced 'if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with', if you enjoyed The Vatican Rag and Rock around the clock... you were with it.

If you cheered Turn On, Tune in and drop out, you were with it. If you actually turned on, tuned in and dropped out, you were definitely with it.

If you were at Sausilito and Altamont , you were with it.

If you collected welfare simultaneously in California and New York by riding the Green Tortoise, you were with it.

If bongs, roach clips and nipple clips didn't have to be explained to you, you were living the sixties.

One of the things I liked most was there just wasn't much you could catch that you couldn't get rid of with a shot. Not that I did, I didn't. But the sex thing was great.

...'if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with',

Well there's a rose,
in a fisted glove.

And the eagle flys, with a dove.

And if you can't be, with the one you love honey, love the one your with.

I still love the tunes, but I was to busy working to enjoy a lot of it.

It was a lot of things happening at the
same time. The equal rights movement
in 64, the Beatles coming here in 64,
the Vietnam war was escalating in 65. Rock
music taking off in the mid 60's. LSD
becoming popular. The economy doing
better than any time in history.

In 73 the draft ended. The Beatles had split
up a few years before. We had Watergate,
Elvis was fat, Nixon resigns in 74. The 60's
were long gone by then.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Did you happen to read the link in the story? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/3545733/China-milk-scandal-Families-of-sick-children-fight-to-find-out-true-scale-of-the-problem.html

The Melamine seems to be throughout the food chain and is a medical disaster. Do you recall the melamine that was shipped here in pet food and killed dogs and cats? My friend swears that is what killed his cat.

The China miracle that so many rave about will haunt everyone for a very long time. I do my best to not eat anything sourced from that part of the world, until your article I didn't know it could also be in red meat.

It also says it is used in other products. I just returned another new coffee pot to WM as I washed it more than a dozen times trying to get the smell of plastic out of it. I washed it with baking soda and distilled water repeatedly. I even started putting new and used coffee grounds in it trying to build a patina on it, but nothing would get rid of the smell of something funky in the plastic.

If I could stand the heat I would just go back to my stainless percolator. I have been shopping for new coffee makers for some time and really didn't want to spend a hundred bucks on a coffee machine. Mr. Coffee used to be fairly reliable but I believe they have went the way of dung.
