Michael Moore is having hissy fits, he offered to pay Repub's to defect yesterday. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Yes, he offered to pay the fee for defecting. He's having hissy fits? Highly doubtful. More right-wing wishful thinking from Evenbob. I suspect Michael Moore stands to make much more $$$$$ under a President Trump than he would under Hillary. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Unfortunately your man Donald doesn't get it either. I LOVE that there is a tweet from Donald to contradict every position the righties hold strongly. That one was from election night 2012 before the vast majority of California's votes were tallied when Donald thought Mitt had won the popular vote. Not what anybody had planned, such a shame. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/electoral-college-meets-amid-effort-deny-trump-presidency-44277130 If you take a risk, you may lose. Why is it even possible to have faithless electors? Why not just make it compulsory to vote for whatever candidate the voters each state went for? |

The electoral college was a compromise between a direct popular election, and a president and vice president elected only by the legislators. The original intent was to have a learned few be the ones electing the executives. State laws which invalidate electoral votes or impose penalties on the electors are a bit of a departure from that intent. The learned few, while nominated by the winning party or parties in each state, were supposed to be able to vote for whoever they wanted. 29 states have that, the rest do not. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
