It isn't about whether or not he cares, it is about him saying that he will do something, and then not do it.

It is a loss of credibility, and from the context of his recent statements, it looks like it was an outright lie.

His "Tough on China" policy is "keep the drone" ? Really? What's next, China takes over Taiwan and he says "keep it" ?
