In many parts of the country, the deceased have a record of strong voter turnout. Every now and then they should elect one of their own.

Indeed, don't the dead win about half the time? As the case with Hof, doesn't the political party he belonged to pick a replacement until there can be a proper election to replace him?

That does not sound correct. They might get to pick a replacement on the ballot, an alternate so to speak. But to let a party at large fill an elected position because of a death before the election? Seems more a job for whatever executive is in power (mayor, governor, etc.)

Yeah, I could be wrong about that.

This is from the KOLO 8 the ABC stations website.

"The applications are supposed to be on those counties’ web sites shortly, Clark County said.
To be eligible to be considered, a person must be registered in Hof’s party, a Republican, and live in District 36."

Does it say who is reviewing and picking? I maintain that pre-election the party should indeed be able to choose. Pose election it seems like need a new election or someone in gov appoints.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Clark County said commissioners from the three counties will select in the next few weeks.

“Under state law, the value of the votes from each county commission will be weighted to match the population distribution of each county within the assembly district as of the last U.S. census,” Clark County said. “In Assembly District 36, almost 64 percent of the population resides in Nye County, about 34 percent lives in Clark County, and about 3 percent resides in Lincoln County.”

They should have used his voice for GPS navigation systems.
