States have a residency requirement. You cannot just move there and register that day. Which is why same-day registration needs to be banned.

I mean you basically can. In most states upon making that your domicile you have to get a DL within 30 days (some as short as 10), and this is where many also register to vote (you sign up when you show your mailing address).

If you ever moved states and changed DLs you would know it's pretty easy and basically instant....

That does not mean you have established time to vote. I have moved many times to 3 different states. The point is you cannot just roll in and say you live at a transient address then vote.

Yes you can in most cases. I have never heard of being told of a waiting period to vote....

In most cases you can register within 30 days of an election.

It varies by state

Yes, as my original post said 30 days appears to be the max, with many far less (10-15).....

But you will need a residence. A hotel or parking an RV at Wally World will not cut it.

Why not? Let's say you graduate from college and start your adult life in an RV. That IS your residence, as it is Terapined's now.

For a while anyway, your residence was determined by where you made most of your money.

Residence <> domicile. You need, or should need, something more fixed. IOW, for instance if the DMV will not accept it, or if a bank cannot accept it, then it is not a residence. It is transient housing.

You may "need it" but may not have it. I surrendered my house and acreage in a property settlement agreement and was really low on funds, so I lived on a boat. When I had to renew my DL, for the address at the dmv, I gave the street address and the boat slip #, which is what they listed as my address on my dl. They didn't want the address of my PO box, they wanted to know where to find me.

I think that is the address on my tax return as well.

Maybe part of the reason is they want to be able to find a person, such as in notification to next of kin, or some purpose such as that?

Interesting contrast.
No wait to get into Graceland. Bought my ticket and they took me right over to the house. They said it's generally crowded but due to virus, slow even with social distancing rules at the house.
Checked out the Lorraine motel. Packed. 3 hours to get in. I bought my ticket and rode my bike all over downtown Memphis checking Beale st. Only a limited amount let in due to Social distancing.
