The Confederate Naval museum
The CSS Jackson or what's left of it
Bottom pic is armor. 4 inches of iron and 2 feet of hard wood angled to deflect cannon ball shots. Very effective. Changed Naval warfare from wooden ships to iron ships.

The National POW museum at Andersonville
One of the toughest museums to go through
It was hard just watching the National Park video
Below is their prized peice
Japanese gave the Bataan Death march survivors a bag of concrete to honor those that died. This is what they created during the war. Eventually moved from the Phillipines to this museum

Dothan AL has a lot of street murals on the side of buildings. Most depict the towns history
I loved this one

Ed, are you on your way back to Florida for the winter yet? If I remember correctly Dothan is pretty close to the Florida border.

I'll be in the Tampa Jan Feb Mar
Currently at the Army aviation museum
Talk about tight security
Had to give up my ID, SSA number and phone number.
Computer took 30 sec to check me out then take my pic for a Army base visitors pass

Have you been to the Military Heritage & Aviation Museum in Punta Gorda Florida? I just heard about it today but haven't been there yet. I will be at the Punta Gorda airport tomorrow but the museum isn't re-opening until November 1st.

Just made me wonder if the Edison home/ museum survived.

Quote:
But further south down the Caloosahatchee River, a bright spot shines: one of Fort Myers’ most well-known and most-visited landmarks remains standing.

Thomas Edison and Henry Ford’s winter estates, despite being located right on the river, are in good shape, all things considered.

“I do think it’s a miracle, but I also think that Thomas Edison must have built these houses very well,” Lisa Wilson, a spokesperson for the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, said Monday. “Thomas Edison actually built the main house and the guest house in 1886, so they’ve been through many storms. I would say this is probably the worst one.”

That's a good tour if you never saw it. (suggest the guided tour, because a lot of information)

Made the drive out to Biloxi. I use my MGM Mastercard for everything and pay off the bill completely every month. Earned 325 dollars in freeplay for 8 months of using the credit card. I run all 325 freeplay dollars through a video poker machine to hopefully hit a Royal flush jackpot of over 1400. Did not hit the royal but did get a 4 of a kind. In the end I got a little lucky and cashed out 350 real dollars. I hit the buffet to pig out after playing. Pretty nice walking out of a casino with 350 dollars

Beau Rivage is still one of my favorite casinos.
