I can see how you guys can be a bit pissed at having the huge spending on Defense. I can even see how you might deem it unfair that you be asked to defend poorer nations that spend less. The 2% spending target is not 'a bill'. Countries that don't currently meet the target are not 'delinquent' to the US

Those English are long dead. You won your independence fair and square. But if we take trump at his word, Nato would defend the UK which pays 2.3% of gdp on defense, but not France which is 'delinquent at 1,9%. trump just being transactional.

I can see a point to 'protect our own first'. But this is a global economy, a shared globe. trump could pull up the drawbridge and put on his blinkers, but handing influence to putin, Xi and any tin pot little dictator is just stupid.
