I've always suspected Hillary has problems being effective because of this [Condoleezza must have too] ... problems we never hear about

What about Golda Meir and Margaret Thatcher?

Hated in a lot of places, especially Meir. You
think the Middle East liked having a woman
running Israel when they don't even let their
own women drive cars or be seen uncovered
in public?

Hillary was tolerated, as were the other two women
who who had the job before her. But they weren't
really very effective, way too many hard headed
chauvinistic men in the world. I have to admit, I'm
pretty open minded, but I don't like dealing with
women in positions of power. I always think about
the company they're with like "Is the the best you can
do? Really?" And women cops are the worst, its all
I can do not to laugh in their faces. They act so gruff
and tough, 120 pounds of lean mean fighting machine.
Whatever, ladies.

South American drug cartels often have women at higher levels.

Much of Hollywood is now female: Writers, Producers, Directors, Distributors... Even the soft core porn industry is virtually all female executives.

Many of the shows features strong female characters:

Weeds didn't feature some man suddenly thrown into the drug world to sink or swim, because no one would much care.

A natural fit, women should naturally write better porn. Most guys have no imagination to adult films, they have everyone nude and going at it within 30 seconds. Much of the market wants more than a simple smut loop. This was shown when they made the "Johnny Wadd" series in the 1970s. Additionally, a surprising amount of porn is viewed by couples, and women want more story to things.

Using that as a barometer is like reading Daily
Kos and expecting a balanced view of the news.

But why are the lawyers, distributors and marketers also female, not just the storyline writers?

The NY Times tells us that our college campuses are full of females that can't date. They can have sex, lots of sex, but no dates. Dating is too passe and involves too many encumbrances that might mar a resume or paint a candidate as economically limited.
How soon is it before the courts adopt this attitude and see a marriage contract as a way of dealing with candidates?

DeathCard,

Good article, but I have to know: Have you ever presented this equitable estoppel argument on behalf of a mother getting divorced from a man who was not actually the father?

Secondly, if a child comes to rely on the support of a man, then can a man (in New York) who is merely a stepfather become financially accountable to the child in a divorce even if the actual father pays and has paid child support?

Hey Mission - no I have not used this argument in any cases I have handled.

No, the mother cannot receive child support from two "fathers".

Could she opt, prior to divorce...if the second guy is more wealthy...to terminate support from the biological father in favor of going after the step-father?

Interesting idea but no. The divorcing biological father would only lose parental rights and responsibilities if he consented to the new hsband's adoption of the child and said adoption actually took place.
