Even if there was a record of it, that would be just a necessary component of the whole thing being planned.

Maine is somewhat of a Libertarian-State and would also be purple, all told. They also have a unique way of awarding Electors such that one Elector, in both 2016 and 2020, went to Trump.

Overall, Maine tends to be a pro-2A state and actually ranks in the top half for gun ownership:

Additionally, New Hampshire (a purple state) is also top half in gun ownership, as well as Vermont-which is extremely liberal. Lots of hunting up there. Over 50% of Vermonters are registered gun owners, believe it or not.

There's really no better way to get the Democrats to turn out and the 2A fence-sitters to suddenly have a change of heart in favor of stricter gun laws, perhaps even advocacy of same on the Federal level, than to have a mass shooting.

Maybe it's overkill, but this could be a backup plan if the Democrats can't kick the can of the economy falling out from under us down the road to 11/24.

In general, I think they'll take any winning issue they can get.
