Ok, first boring vid is just me driving to Pop's to go shoot. Kinda shows where I live and the stuff I describe in my Fishing thread, as well as my backwoods reputation. Saying I'm "from NY" or "from Buffalo" doesn't really describing anything close to where I actually live, as you can see.

I have questions. First, this is a helmet mounted cam, and as you can see, it's too high. I'm trying to get an idea of where I should mount this thing when it comes to racing. Now, I'll sit a lot lower in my race car than my truck so half the screen won't be my roof, but it'll still be sort of high. Basically, the three areas I can think to mount it are head, roll cage, and dash.

With the head, you get a 1st person view. You look where I look, you can see hands on the wheel, see the gauges. The forces involved are sort of conveyed since I move with them. The downside is it's a little high, and it's more shakey.

If I put it on the roll cage, you still might be able to see some wheel action, and the video should be rock solid. But gauges are likely to be blocked by my arms, and since the camera would likely be shoulder high, seeing the front of the car or the track might be more difficult.

If I put it on the dash, it'll be about as stable as the cage and would probably give the best view of what's in front of me, but the action won't be as communicated because all you're seeing is the outside.

Thoughts?

Just playing with the GLOCK since it was so nice out. I know I'm gonna get called on it, but I swear...

I did 10 rounds before this 10 rounds. Hit that thing 4 times on the big target and 3 times on the small. Aaaand the damn camera wasn't recording =p Tried another 10 but the RTF had already chewed my soft winter hands up, and I got jumpy. I think I hit 3, maybe 4 on the second go around.

Full disclosure, 3 or 4 out of 10 is about right for me with my GLOCK =p Something about me and this piece just doesn't mesh, but I guess when your target is only 10' away, it doesn't need to =p

Anyways, I was just testing the camera and placement. Like the truck it was too high, missing the reload and other stuff done close to the body (I edited that out, since it was just showing ground).

The skates with two wheels in front and two wheels in back, side by side? Like this?

No, I am talking ice skates. I've never roller skated.

I actually have 3 more videos d/l'ing to YouTube right now. Despite my reports of 65" of snow and double digit negative temps over on WoV, I live in NY. So today's temps of mid 50s in mid January...is about expected. I went for a drive to test camera placement, and pulled out some guns to test them as well. Don't get too excited, this is more just testing to get placement down and get ideas. But I'll throw them up for fun when they're complete.

I wondered if borrowing a Go-Pro and editing my races this year would be interesting, then decided no-one needs (edited) footage of the guy near the back of the race.

And finally, my Mosin-Nagant 91/30. Definitely one of my favorite guns, and just so happens to also be the cheapest to buy and cheapest to shoot =D

6 out of 10 for this one. Not bad for a windy day when one isn't trying =)

(Remember to switch these to 720p HD when possible)

In other news, I'm working on yet another slot machine deconstruction. The video of my play is here. Warning: super boring.

Are you using you're gopro or phone. Looks good either way (visually).

If it's the gopro,, do you just hang it around your neck, or clip it to your pocket or shirt in the casino?

It was next to may forehead, attached to a headband. Same way I did the skiing videos.

My latest video is up, the Saint Rose Parkway Trail. In this one the camera angle was pointed too low. My apologies about that.

YouTube has dinged me for every use of music in my videos, including the McNugget Challenge for just ambient music played in the restaurant. Hopefully I'm safe with something classical.

For some future videos I'd like to feature music by one of my favorite bands, Klaatu. Hopefully they are obscure enough that YouTube will not identify it. They evidently use some kind of scraping software and check the audio of everything against a background of known copyrighted music.

Here's a gambling/ camera question., and possible use for the gopro.

Wiz, you know those slot games that let you observe the stats? I don't recall what gaming company makes them, but I know you've seen them before.

What if you picked out one or a couple of those machines at a convenient casino and took weekly shots of the stat screen of the same machines. I don't know if the interval should be shorter than a week, but the idea is to actually track some longer term play by catching the overlap in the stats before the older stats disappear.

It could be the machines completely reset if they are rebooted, and maybe it wouldn't be possible to follow them for long, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Seems to me the data is presented in various formats, such as largest win, or bonus, or most recent.

Another note about those machines I noticed. Sometimes you can't get the stat screens until you put a dollar in first. You don't have to spend it, but the stat button wouldn't work for me until I did.
