He wanted the part, during training the actors, he got all dressed up as a drill sergeant, did his drill instructor bit training the actors, Kubrick saw this and gave him the part. Most of R Lee Emery's dialogue was ad libbed Kubrick is known to take numerous takes of one scene. 30 takes is not unusual. R Lee actually lost his voice sometimes due to so many takes One actor once complained after so many takes that he didn't know what the director wants. Kubrick looked up from his camera, "How about better acting" This was all filmed in London Kubrick rarely travel more the 20 miles from his home. He wanted to do a Viet Nam movie. He doesn't really travel. So they had no choice but to shoot it in London. All the outdoor scenes, London. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Depp is on a roll, that's 3 flops in a row and his wife is all over the front pages claiming he's a drunk and an addict and beats her all the time. He was 50 and married a kid in her 20's and it didn't work out? Who could have seen that coming. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Presumably you are referring to "The Lone Ranger" and "Dark Shadows" but since the first Alice made a billion dollars, he really made 10 non-Pirate films, none of which can be called a raging "success".

He is the dog house with the Australian Federal Police and called an Australian Minister "an exploded tomato". Wonder how he will be with a California Family Court Judge??? |

I've heard some movie viewers got physically sick due to vertigo. The walk itself I totally applaud. The take-away I get from the movie was just installing the wire was the much bigger challenge than actually walking it. I am not saying everybody will like this movie, but I can't help but like a movie about somebody who juggles and rides a unicycle. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

I've heard that complaint before but I enjoyed the whole movie. The movie was not just about "the walk" but also about the walker and the preparation that went into the walk. I would agree that the middle part about the challenges of setting up the wire maybe ran a little too long but the walk itself was only so long so they had kill the time somehow.
