ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
A satanic group that wants to hand out reading materials to Orange County students is now one step closed to making that happen.

The Satanic Temple, based in New York, has submitted a pamphlet for students that the Orange County school board members are now reviewing.

The group wants the satanic material distributed on Religious Freedom day in January. Along with the Satanic Children's Big Book of Activities, the Satanic Temple wants to hand out a list of frequently asked questions, that include questions like, 'Can I pray to Satan in school?'

The group's representative told Channel 9 they're only pushing the issue because a Christian group was allowed to pass out Bibles last year. The group said it ideally wants the school district to prohibit all religious materials.

Freedom of Religion. Whatcha gonna do?

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

In my opinion, nobody should be giving out religious material in public schools. However, if it must happen, all religions should be treated equally. For this reason, I'm with the Satanic group on this one. However, I would bet it doesn't go my way.

I completely agree.
Here is nearby Clearwater its a battle keeping scientology out of the schools there. Weird town, the cult completely controls downtown.
What's scary is Supreme Court Justice Scalia has a different view.
He doesn't believe in freedom from religion. Kind of scary.

I think reasonable people have come to recognize when our freedom is just used to make a mockery of things or becomes hurtful to the common good. Hence we know pornography when we see it or our freedom to yell fire in a crowded place is restricted. To allow these types of things to fall under religious freedom is a weakening of our freedoms not protecting them.

The bigger problem is why do we need a "Religious Freedom Day?" EVERY day is supposed to allow religious feedom, yet it is trampled on for especially Christians and Jews in schools all the time. Some haters take the "shall not establish" to mean individuals bothering nobody have their rights taken away. SCOTUS in the early-2000s IIC said that a religious group had the same rights to use school property as any other group as long as there is no compulsion to join. (i.e.: the Christian Club should have the same access as the Chess Club.) This is "settled law" as the left likes to say, yet it is ignored.

As to the Satanics handing things out, let them hand them out.

Are you for scientology doing recruitment drives in our schools?

Freedom of religion means freedom of religion. Attempt to ban religion have always failed in the long term. Christian, Jewish, Scientology, or Global Warming, let them have their freedom to their message.

And to recognize a package deal when we see one.

A package deal like that. I have no love of pornography, but as long as it's produced with consenting adults, it should be 100% lawful.

How so? Do you know Satanists are not sincere in their beliefs? If they are, and don't harm other people, why should they have any less right to practice and advocate for their religion as you do yours?
