Exactly right. Or no words at all, it's an acceptance more than a belief. The simplest person in the simplest tribe on earth understands it, whether he realizes it or not. There's a quote that's attributed to Twain, but he never said it. 'Religion was born when the first con man met the first sucker.' If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I completely agree. I consider myself an atheist. My few word is I don't believe. That's it. No deep thought. No contemplation. I barely think about it. Could care less what other atheists thought or did. I don't believe in martians on Mars. I don't believe in God Just 2 fleeting non-belief thoughts and move on, both thoughts equal in that I never really think about either thought. How can something that takes no thought at all be a religion. It's like fish making the ocean their religion. They just accept their place in their universe and move on. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Did I ever tell you I have hundreds of hobbies: 1) not collecting stamps 2) not restoring cars 3) not fishing 4) not hunting 5) not shooting guns at a range 6) not reading every book about French art 7) not reading every book about Italian art 8) not reading every book about Japanese art 9) not reading every book about Mexican cuisine 10) Not travelling to Antarctica every year. I could go on, quite literally, for years. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

What sounds ridiculous to me is that you are comparing belief in a six foot bunny to belief in God and non-belief in said bunny to atheism. I think no matter where you stand on the issue of God we should all be offended by such ridiculousness. By the way I don't think it is fair to compare the beliefs of atheists and theists. Those who believe in God at least have some evidence in modern science and cosmology as well as philosophy and logic that can lead to a reasonable decision to believe in a higher power. The poor atheists really have no evidence of that sort to think that there is nothing. Atheism is not a religion, I think it is more a philosophy of life formed on emotions and through experiences of life. Atheism is what some people desperately hope and want to be true, and while I think it is sad, I nor anyone else can begrudge them of their ideas. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

I'm sincerely curious terapined why it is that you barely think about the question of God? I think you are not alone in this modern phenomenon of not thinking about these big questions or more accurately not even thinking these questions are really that big or important. I am much more concerned about this type of atheism, or indifference really, than the thinking atheists. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Because to us it's not a question at all. You can't seem to wrap your mind around that. Why would I spend one minute a day thinking about something I don't believe. It would be silliness personified. I don't think about Santa either, you have no problem believing that I bet.. Looking for god is a young mans hobby, you grow out of it. You find him or you don't, or what you think is him. That's fine, makes no difference. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I'm actually pretty fascinated by religion. Scientology dominates the next town over, but its not just that. Documentaries on TV such dead sea scrolls, historical Jesus. religious texts excluded from the bible, I stop and watch and am fascinated. I love history and religious history is a big part of history. I eat all this up. Love it. On the flip side, just don't think about God personally. I don't believe, move on and think about other stuff. simple as that. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

I used this earlier, but nobody asks you why you don't spend a lot of time thinking about Santa. Why would you, he doesn't exist. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
