I thought it would be clear when I said you'd vote out a liberal/progressive governor because you knew he was against everything you believe in even if the laws were all agreeable to you at the moment. I know DeSantis views. Would you like the "squad"* controlling your city council taking every chance they get to attack those standards?

*Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib.

Also, I don't know how you get to buying a house here is "tourism". And I can definitely tell you visiting relatives is not necessarily tourism. And lots of places in Florida aren't touristy at all, unless you like swamp, hot weather, and no beach at all.

My nephew is mostly disinterested in politics. I’d have no problem telling him why I’d vote for anyone over Mamdani if I still lived in NYC. My gay nephew is also Jewish. I’d say anti Semitism is a far more important issue for him going forward. So, to be clear, candidates’ positions on gay rights is a factor, but not the only factor, in my evaluating candidates. I could never vote for Mamdani, or Trump for that matter, regardless of their positions on gay rights.

Why would discrimination against people due to sexual preference / orientation be any different than discrimination because of race?

I don't believe that it has ever been established that gay people "choose" to be gay.

Oh sure, lots of folks will experiment out of curiosity: fact is, exploring bi-sexuality seems to be sort of "cool" these days.

I've had a couple gay friends and they never wavered in their belief that they were gay; usually they "knew" by about age seven or eight.

Hasn't the concept of "deprogramming" gays been thoroughly discredited?
