If it's in the contract or policy agreement, I have no issue with any of that. For example if your policy requires you to maintain a certain BMI and/or used a HT/WT chart (like the military) that you must fall into or else pay more, that should be up to the private insurance. This is a conservative position, companies should be able to charge more for whatever they deem risky (or require a corrective action such as sending them a diet plan etc...) If a company wants to require a fitness test to make sure you meet a minimum standard of fitness, I am fine with that as well. So yes I am good with employers and insurance doing this if it is in your contract. You know the expectations when you get hired and accept, and if you don't meet them you get whatever the corrective action is. There are rules to play, don't like it apply somewhere else or switch policies (or don't accept their health insurance and buy your own if you want to work there but don't agree with their medical requirements). When I worked somewhere that had tobacco requirements that I did not agree with, I simply did not accept their insurance and used an alternative. (Which was cheaper than the increased rates on top of what was pretty pricey to begin with for not great insurance, and I did not have to pay more, while also being forced to attend monthly tobacco is bad classes..... ) With the exception of the military (for active duty), no employer can force you onto their health plan (unless you sign a contract that mandates participation). If you don't like it, or the requirements or restrictions of the plan, buy your own insurance (or be added to your wife's plan, or use cash if you can afford it, etc...) So yes, I agree with that statement. Though I would like to see a public option for those that want it. |

Where are you on healthy diets? Should we also impact costs for those that fail to ingest sufficient fiber or too much in saturated fats? How do you suggest we monitor these variables? Blood tests probably will work. As an employer, you are able to change your health insurance options annually during the enrollment period. Just like the vaccine requirements now, you get fired if you don't adopt to the new tiered pricing. Personal responsibility, I am in favor of all of it. AMS thinks if you repeat an untrue statement long enough people will mistake it for the truth. That only works for politicians, but we all know when a politicians lips are moving they are lying. Wait a minute.... Def. of Liar - "A Person Who Tells Lies" / "I lied. Deal with it" - ams288 |

Dammit, on the Bucket List was definitely "to be valued" by a career AmEx Travel employee retired and living in an RV. Maybe next time. Remember it's Friday today, that's the box marked "Fri" Def. of Liar - "A Person Who Tells Lies" / "I lied. Deal with it" - ams288 |

I actually have also worked somewhere that required annual blood/urine tests (actually technically kind of the same employer as above though different sections, anyway...), but yeah, it was a blood and urine test and you had to upload your results to the plan's website (actually you had to fill in all of the boxes yourself, but they would usually end up asking for the lab report a few weeks later anyway, so I am not really sure why they did it that way, probably to catch people who lie I guess or something). This was required to be on the "Healthy plan", along with an annual checkup with your Primary Care Doctor, and an annual questionnaire that was quite extensive about your diet and overall health (how much you workout, how you feel overall, sex habits, how many servings of x do you eat a day, etc....) None of this was technically not mandatory, even to be on the plan, but it allowed you to save on the plan. Eventually nicotine testing was added to the healthy plan (and all tobacco and nicotine was banned for the healthy plan -IE the way cheaper option-), and I did not feel like quitting (I don't smoke, or really use tobacco, though occasionally dip, mostly use nicotine products) , so I quit the plan because that was one bridge too far for me, and switched to one of my choosing. Should all of these tests be on the public option? I would not be opposed as long as it remains affordable for people who need it. I am pretty open-minded to things that encourage people to be healthier. I agree with personal responsibility for health. We have way too many unhealthy people in America (in general even Pre-Covid) who clog up the hospital system because of a lifetime of poor diet and other choices (smoking, drug, alcohol use, etc....), I am not saying any of these should be banned, everything in moderation, but I agree with rewarding good behavior. Where I work now, ironically, they don't ask or require anything, as long as you pay your monthly premiums you are good, does not matter if you are a fitness expert who eats well or a chain smoker who weighs 400 lbs the price is the same for all.... I think signing up took like 20 seconds (name, DOB, SSN, mailing address, signature, and that was about it, it was like a quarter of a page, at least the part you fill out). We are not even required to be vaccinated (which I think it foolish, but I think it should be up to the employer), though they now incentivize it by offering PTO days if you send HR your COVID card, which I don't think a few PTO days (but hey I'll take it for something I would have done anyway) is going to change the mind of people who have their minds made up. |

He reminds me so much of Boz. His posts are seething with barely controlled rage in the same way. I suspect he will end up snapping just like Boz did, and I will be here for it. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

I am not sure if sarcasm, but I think I made a pretty fair reply and cited personal experience with various incentive systems. |
