I have need of spinal surgery, Cervical and Lumbar. The insurance I have said they will pay for one procedure each, but they don't pay for "re-do's". So pick the right one is the message I took away from it.

One of the surgeons [Lumbar] that I spoke with does the repeat surgery's for Arizona. That kind of scares me poopless, that this guy is basically assigned to go in and redo screw ups. One I spoke with said, "don't even get cut until you have to drag your leg in here", which is the policy I've been working under

That was my situation. I started having to use a cane to walk and at night I would cry and try and figure out how to amputate my own leg.

I had the robotic assisted minimally invasive surgery. I was back to work on Monday after having the surgery on Wednesday. Granted, I just sat at a desk and didn't do anything physical.

For a product as important as healthcare, capitalism hasn't worked. It's pretty easy to see it's never going to become affordable through competition.

What does the term "affordable healthcare" mean? I can afford my health insurance out of pocket costs, so it's affordable.
9 out of 10 Americans have some form of health insurance under the current capitalistic system per the 2020 Census data.
It appears the current health insurance system is working for 90% of Americans.
You are arguing for a change based on 10% of the population not engaging in the current system.
Good luck with that.

You have to understand, liberals are socialists and communists and unless something is 'fair', meaning the poor people have just as much access as everybody else to healthcare, then it's considered to be not working. Like in the United Kingdom. Where socialized medicine is a joke because people who can afford it have their own doctors who are pay grades above the doctors the public gets. Communism itself is a joke now. The two biggest communist countries in the world, Russia and China, have more private billionaires then we do in the United States. That's what always happens when you introduce capitalism into any society. The smart people thrive and the not so smart people live off what the smart people do. Places where you have pure communism like in North Korea, the place sucks. Nobody wants to live there. Like Sean Hannity used to say on his radio show all the time, in his life he's had many jobs and not one time was ever hired for one of them by a poor person. Poor people are never employers, they work for the smart people who are the employers.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

They are playing Arizona which is one of the worst teams in the country. Should be an easy win for the Ducks.

Maybe thats why its not a sellout

Yes, poor people deserve the same access to healthcare as everyone else.

Is that supposed to be a controversial statement?!

Affordable care?

Well comparable nation's healthcare systems spend half of what we do. I don't think we're getting anywhere close to twice the value.

After you account for the 10% uninsured, another 13% are underinsured. And I wouldn't doubt at a minimum another 5% on top of that, think they're sufficiently insured and will eventually find out they actually aren't insured enough for whatever happens to them.

On the good side, we're managing to still hold on to the pre-existing conditions clause which we really needed.

So you went in on a Wednesday, and got out Thurs?, back to work Monday? Not bad at all.

Did you have that done in Las Vegas?

There seems to be an alarming trend where non vaccinated people are being discriminated against. And social media is really reaming into unvaccinated people who end up in the hospital from Covid and even die from it. In fact, at least one Corporation is charging a whopping $200 upcharge in Health insurance for unvaccinated people and many people are losing their jobs due to not being vaccinated. A nurse who had saved many lives was asked to resign because she didn't have the vaccine. Not okay. This is just not fair, as many people have health issues where getting the vaccine is not in their best interest, such as cancer patients undergoing radiation and or chemo.

Ehh last place I worked, to use tobacco (even nicotine products that are tobacco free) you had to pay I think 275 (or maybe 285) a month more for health insurance for single, no clue for family (and they actually did test for it).

Make dumb choices pay the price, you are a risk to insurance companies if you don't vaccinate, just like if you smoke. Higher risk = pay more or change your behavior....

If it's that important to you, you should be fine paying the extra premiums....

As for hospitals requiring staff to be vaccinated, who would have thought?
