Geraldo Rivera is always ragging on the anti-vaxxers and thought that he's fully protected from getting sick cuz he's double vaccinated and has got a booster. Then went to Florida on vacation for Christmas and got covid. His wife literally had to drag him kcking and screaming to get tested because he was convinced that couldn't get covid. He spent the last week quarantined in his basement sicker than a dog at 78 years old. Now he says he has to eat Humble Pie because he thought he was totally protected. What an idiot, I thought everybody knew by now that the vaccines are worthless in stopping you from getting it. They might give you a little benefit when you get sick but there is a 99% recovery rate whether you're vaccinated or not. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

The Sputnik V (Gam-COVID-Vac) vaccine reduces the time taken for the actual development of immunity to SARS-CoV-2, the betacoronavirus behind the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a vector vaccine based on adenovirus DNA, in which the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus gene is integrated. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

| OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1788 | Correct me if I misinterpret... What do I know? Apparently incompatible statements, neither of which were pretty wise. Both of which trimmed to remove context. Not the smartest of sound bites
Clearly an answer to 'are we going to have another NATIONAL lockdown?' (country=nation=federal responsibility?) Probably unwise to have said that, if a lockdown had subsequently proved necessary And from that second linked article.
I don't think it was smart, but surely he was just reminding you of the powers retained at State level under your constitution... education of inhabitants. implementation of welfare and other benefits programs and distribution of aid. protecting people from local threats. What he was saying was that you elected your state leaders. Federal government can supply resources, but if your elected representatives reject the help, so be it. They represent your views. And before anyone says "It's a national threat, not a local one". I'll ask why different states are faring differently. The threat within is the public attitude. IMHO, You could rather do with having a National. Federal response, but that is hindered by your own Constitution. |

Too.Many.Reasons.To.Say. Locals fare different because there are so many different factors. As an example, the county just to the north of mine last year was always on the "hot" list but every county surrounding it was not. Why? Because it has a few big old folks homes that inflated the per capita for the whole county! It is not hard to see why different states fare different. It does take putting your thinking cap on and taking blinders off. States have different climates. Different population densities. Different travel patterns. I-95 runs up and down the east coast meaning any area around it gets people from Florida to New York in large numbers. Going inland, there is no road with near the traffic from Michigan to Alabama. As this thing is studied decades from now people will probably come up with lots of things and it will require hindsight and someone with all kinds of time and government grants.
And what kind of response, exactly? Yet more masks? There is an episode of MASH where I think it was Henry Blake telling Hawkeye he was taught that "In war, Rule #1 is young men die. Rule #2 is doctors cannot change Rule #1." We need to better accept this. Nature is going to do what nature is going to do. You take sensible precautions to keep safe and get on with life. Now..... Please cite evidence that he was "sicker than a dog" I'll help you... https://twitter.com/GeraldoRivera/status/1478364597547638784

| OnceDear Member since: Nov 21, 2017 Threads: 15 Posts: 1788 | So, There is no influence on health impact resulting from the political colour of the State's own local government. No correlation? NONE? You take sensible precautions to keep safe and get on with life, except where not doing so will own the Libs What sensible precautions did you take and continue to take? |

I think the answer there is a clear pretty much none based on what we have seen. Other than liberal governors throwing sick patients into nursing homes.
Well, I work from home. I do not go to movies much anyhow but I avoid crowded places like movie theaters or bars. I do go to the VFW bar to play poker but it is not all that crowded. Been taking zinc and vitamin C. I try to do my grocery shopping and dining out at less popular thus less crowded times. If I feel a little sick like this week I further minimize my time in public. Really, how much else are you going to do? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |
