The USA did it?

Not terribly surprising.

When the story broke about the Ukrainians doing it, I wondered how they'd have the training, equipment and ability to do it alone.

The Russians are now firing hypersonic missiles. They must be running out of conventional missiles.

At this stage, I believe it's important to give the benefit of the doubt.

But, there shouldn't be doubt.

So that could be a more dangerous issue, if they can't think clearly for some reason.

Don't be surprised if the Russians quit resupplying their front line troops, quit going on the offensive, and settle back into a defensive position to try and hold the territory they do have. They know that very soon the Ukrainians will have many offensive weapons and the weather is going to make for a big push shortly.

It is very likely the Russians will just play defense until some sort of peace plan is negotiated,

In other news the Russians have said the Kursk bridge is back open for supply trains so don't be surprised if a "smoking" Russian soldier accidentally blows it up.

I know there is a lot of hatred of Putin in Russia.
I wonder if it's possible he could be pulled down.
The police protect him.
But the military must hate his guts.
He gotten tens of thousands of them killed for nothing.
I guess it's a low probability thing that he could be pulled down.
But maybe something to hope for.

I think an organized overthrow would be very unlikely. The more likely scenario is a rogue person killing him.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a potential Republican presidential candidate, broke with many in his party Monday and told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that protecting Ukraine is not a "vital" national interest for the U.S.

Desantis is a chump when it comes to Ukraine.

On this, I would agree with him. I am all for helping Ukraine because it will help other EU countries, but I do not believe it is vital for the U.S.

I also like it because we get to test a bunch of weapons in a live fire environment without putting many U.S. lives at risk. I still believe Ukraine will get most of their territory back in the East but I doubt they will get Crimea back. My best guess is Russia will concede most of Ukraine but Crimea will be negotiated. I think the most likely scenario for Crimea is that it will become independent and Russia will be allowed to keep their naval port in Sevastopol.
