I assume a nuclear attack will come with a warning that is already probably delayed at least 5 minutes. Then, if you do have a proper shelter place, (probably far less than 1 in 1,000 000 do), probably even fewer will get to their shelter on time. And god forbid you have one of those people in your household who is never ready and still has to grab something else so you can't close the door to the shelter. So, basically, if you're area is hit, you're probably gonna die instantly or in a few days from radiation poisoning.

I mean, I'll just die off, I don't want to live in a world where I have to spend decades in a bunker to maybe survive. So I'm not that worried about finding a shelter in the case of global nuclear war.

It will be catastrophic, but...

"Hibaku Jumoku" (A-bombed trees), are a testament to the resilience of life. They are located within about 1¼ miles (approximately 2 kilometers) of ground zero in Hiroshima. Some of these trees were severely damaged, reduced to charred stumps or bare roots, but they still managed to regrow. For example, a willow tree located around 370 meters from the explosion site is recognized as the closest surviving tree to the hypocenter.

The presence of these surviving trees, along with the fact that seeds planted near ground zero grew normally and earthworms were found underground, also indicates that the radiation from the bomb did not have a lasting sterilizing effect on the soil or vegetation.

Yeah, but, nuclear weapons today are much different than WWII. That was a single atomic bomb. A city that would be targeted today will be by dozens of nuclear missiles, it would be total devastation.

It's not like WWII where there were only 2 bombs in existence (and more couple not be made for months,) and they had to be manually dropped one at a time.

Hiroshima was nasty, but it would be paradise compared to a City targeted for a nuclear attack today.

True. The way the wind blows at the time literally matters for people in remote areas. Even after the radiation, there might be nuclear winter. But even then some people might find food frozen under ice long enough to survive to better times. Currently, I don't think the human race would be killed off, just severely reduced. In one generation some people would likely be living in colonies at least comparable to the 19th century. Some might be much better off, if they started prepared with all sorts of stored undamaged equipment.

You can start generating electricity again with access to a stream and simple generator made from found wire and other parts left if needed. That's a big jump on ancient man or even colonial man.

Most nuclear war depictions only show the initial attack. I'd expect high value targets to have at least 3 waves of nuclear hits with several at each time. Nothing like Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Many may not hit, but only takes one each time really.

This is an Internet forum, Geno. People ask other people their opinions on matters. As Rx said, no one can know for sure what happens if Russia uses a tactical nuke on Ukraine, for example. You prefer to just make snarky comments rather than actually participate and share your opinion. Of course anyone can ask Google anything. I’m interested in the opinions of (some) of the board members.

If I need to know a simple FACT, like how many HRs Pete Alonso has hit, that’s what I use Google for. If I want to know if I think he’s a better HR hitter than Juan Soto, that’s a DISCUSSION.

You aren't asking opinions, doc. You are asking for facts, which you can easily find yourself.

I am one of the few people who wants to see a large nuclear war break out. I am just very curious about the strategy and logistics. Unfortunately, at my age it is looking less and less likely.

Ukraine has finally started using their jets for strategic bombing against Russia. This maneuver may actually help them start pushing the lines back.
