I don't believe Ukraine can ever give up. No one can enforce any guarantee Putin might make against taking revenge on the local population unless NATO troops are in the country.

I agree, in that part of the world everyone needs to continue to maintain the ability to defend themselves. Even if Russia ends up using a tactical nuke in Ukraine I do not see NATO intervening directly.

Define ‘tactical nuke’. Aren’t all nukes ‘tactical’?

I’ve heard of it. Sometimes too lazy! Even after reading your post I’m still not sure what to make of it. How much is ‘smaller’? Kill 1,000 per nuke? 5,000? Destroy an acre? A square mile? 50 square miles? How many of these ‘tactical nukes’ does Russia have? How many do we have? How many do Pakistan and India have?

You can google each and every one of those questions and get answers that satisfy you. Try learning about the subject matters at hand.

Most people wonder what happens when we cross that line again since WW2 and what the next line will be and where it will stop. It's probably a good idea not to cross the line again and find out, but no one knows for sure of course. I'd prefer not to try that experiment in this area.

I suspect, a one-off single bomb nuclear attack will set every non-third world country on full red alert, or whatever they call it where they are. Then probably total paralysis with everyone calling everyone.

And if a nuclear country attacks another nuclear country. Oh boy.

This is an Internet forum, Geno. People ask other people their opinions on matters. As Rx said, no one can know for sure what happens if Russia uses a tactical nuke on Ukraine, for example. You prefer to just make snarky comments rather than actually participate and share your opinion. Of course anyone can ask Google anything. I’m interested in the opinions of (some) of the board members.

If I need to know a simple FACT, like how many HRs Pete Alonso has hit, that’s what I use Google for. If I want to know if I think he’s a better HR hitter than Juan Soto, that’s a DISCUSSION.

Right now we have India/Pakistan (both nuclear powers, and both governments are disorganized to put it nicely.)

Israel/Gaza (Israel is a nuclear power, though Gaza has allies that may be working that way.

Russia/Ukraine (Russia is a nuclear power with an authoritarian government, Ukraine has many nuclear allies that don't live Russia.)

North Korea /South Korea (I don't know if this even counts because it's a constant....)


It's kind of terrifying if you think how many wars happening as we speak involve unstable countries with nuclear weapons... And, most people don't even realize how we are one poorly planned day or a moment where some extremist leader has an emotional outburst from a globally devastating nuclear war.
