Not to quibble, but isn't strategic bombing typically used against cities and supportive infrastructure and tactical bombing is typically used against military forces?

For example, our ICBM's are strategic whereas the now defunct atomic cannon was tactical.

Does anyone else think this would be a good time for China to retake Manchuria? Russia is stretched thin with Ukraine and their major drone and drone parts supplier Iran is pretty much out of business.

Manchuria although currently part of Russia is mainly populated with Chinese and it is a major port area with lots of oil and gas resources that China needs. It would be awesome if they decided to take it back now. Probably the best chance they will have for many years to come.

Russia has made it clear that if China tries to invade any Russian territory, Russia will just nuke China in response.

Yes and Russia has said they will nuke Ukraine too but we see how there idle threats work. I think very few people are concerned about them using a first strike nuke. China also has nukes that would also be a deterrent to Russia..

A Russia/China War would be very good for the West and the free world. I don't think it would escalate to nuclear, even India/Pakistan are not doing such (and they are far more likely in my opinion.)

At this point I don't even think it would be a war. I suspect that China could just take the Manchuria area and it would be done in a week with Russia capitulating.

During this whole Ukraine Invasion, one thing keeps running through mind: *This* is the Army we were paranoid about during the Cold War?

I assume that they were a lot more capable and prepared back when it was the USSR. Once Gorbechov introduced capitalism everyone realized they would be better off if they just stole the money and let the military crumble.

You can get 15 years in jail just for criticizing the war. Hard not to be patriotic but makes for unenthusiastic fighters. And it's more or less a draft. I doubt if they have many volunteers.
