You are quite confused. You type Trump and SOOPOO. You really mean to type Trump and Newsom. I am against making election districts for the PURPOSE of favoring one party over another. That doesn’t mean I am unhappy when fewer Democrats are elected to Congress. But I prefer the ‘neutral’ approach to drawing districts. Just try and get 10 people to do the job who are really neutral!

I am not particularly good at political predictions. But it’s hard for me to see any other result than a (financially) crumbling NYC that will be BEGGING for a federal bailout soon! He is trying to eliminate the 1/2 billion or so they get from bus fares. He is trying to add billions in free child care. Money losing discount grocery stores. The list goes on. Unlike the Federal Government, NYC can’t print more money to hide its problems.

Several states have independent redistricting commissions, established by bipartisan legislation by their legislatures and governor. What did Republicans try to do? Try to get those commissions declared unconstitutional. So spare us your outrage.

Funny how Boston has been able to get establish certain fare-free bus lines. Discount grocery stores might work: Acquire or lease a commercial retail space, stock it with grocery items and sell them at cost+minimal markup, just enough to cover the total operating cost. I mean, that's whole point of non-profit. There are plenty of government programs, such as the VA health system, where the mission is to be socially responsible and not necessarily fiscally responsible.

Think I posted this maybe even earlier today…. Redistricting for the PURPOSE of favoring one party over another is wrong. With rare exception, I’m in favor of an ‘independent’ entity drawing congressional maps.

We have a year to find out what people really feel about Trump/Democrat platform/Abbott/Mamdani. Right now Dems are favored to slightly take the House, with Tepublicans slightly favored to keep the Senate, but no where near a filibuster proof majority.

It will be interesting to see how a lame duck Trump works with/Against the second most powerful person in America, who will be Hakeem Jeffries. You think this government shutdown was long??? Just wait!!!!!
