While interpretations vary, many believe Jesus would advocate for compassion, dignity, and welcoming the stranger, citing his teachings to love the marginalized, as he himself was a refugee, while others emphasize biblical calls to obey governing laws, suggesting a balance between mercy and lawful order, leading to diverse Christian views on immigration policy.

Arguments for Compassion & Welcome
"Welcome the Stranger": Jesus taught, "I was a stranger and you welcomed me," linking care for immigrants to care for God.
Love the Vulnerable: His ministry focused on the poor, marginalized, and foreigners, challenging systems that dehumanized them.

Refugee Background: Jesus, as a child, was a refugee fleeing Herod, making him a "foreigner" in Egypt.

Biblical Commands: Old Testament laws, reiterated by Jesus, command treating foreigners with love and justice, as if they were natives, because the Israelites were once foreigners in Egypt (Leviticus 19:33-34, Deuteronomy 10:19).

Arguments for Law & Order

Obeying Authority: Romans 13:1-7 states Christians should submit to governing authorities, suggesting respect for immigration laws is a duty unless they directly contradict God's commands.

Borders & Order: Some argue God established nations with borders (Acts 17:26) and that lawful immigration processes promote order and civilization, a principle found in Old Testament laws requiring assimilation for foreigners.

Only thing MAGA is praying for, is foreigners to be rounded up and shipped out without compassion. Not one ounce of compassion from MAGA.

That's just a fact.

Briefly. Then the family returned to where they came from.

Under Trump he would have been deported whether it was safe to go back to his own country yet, or even to another country if caught by ICE policy.

Jesus didn't storm the Temple. He overturned the tables of the money changers outside the Temple, who he felt were dishonoring the Temple by cheating people who were trying to sell animals for sacrifice.

'Jesus overturned tables and drove out merchants not in the inner "Temple" itself, but in the Temple Courts (Outer Court), specifically the Court of the Gentiles, turning a designated area for non-Jewish worshippers and prayer into a marketplace, which He called a "den of robbers," according to all four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). He was clearing out money changers and animal sellers who exploited people and dishonored God's house, using a whip of cords and overturning their tables.'

Hey, it's just the dystopia so many predicted about the future.

Sorry. You can’t get away with using the word ‘foreigner’. Use the words ‘illegal aliens’ and I’ll agree with you. I have compassion for those still in Mexico because of the millions who’ve jumped the line. You do realize the number of legal spots is decreased as a result of the millions who’ve came here illegally, don’t you?

Why would you personally care / have compassion for strangers who can't make it in their home country and want to come here?

What, are you a bleeding heart liberal or something?

Compassion, like charity, should begin at home: how about helping out all the homeless?

I'm indifferent to the plight and circumstances those who want to come here: not my problem or concern whatsoever.

Life's a bitch, then you die: how true that is.

I guess my point is I’d rather have someone who respected our laws for admission here than those that chose to flaunt them. One of wife’s best friends, from college then dental school, was born in Mexico. Her parents did whatever you needed to do back then to get here legally. This woman is the most fervent pro-Trump, anti illegal immigration person I know. (It’s why she and wifey are not nearly as close as before Trump’s first term).

We are a country, but we are also part of the human race. So I can have compassion for non citizens of our country who are stuck in bad situations. But I don’t think ignoring our immigration laws is the way to show that compassion.

As far as ‘the homeless’, I probably took care of thousands over my career. At my hospital they were treated like MrV or Geno.
