It would also go a long way in making people unhappier than they already are. I choose happiness over longevity.

I'll buy you a bag of sugar.

Drich, you ever smoke crack? The drug, not the ass or sidewalk.

Not yet, i haven't even tried weed. I have always said that if I am going to try one illegal drug then I want to shoot up heroin.

My vice was drinking and I did way too much of that.

Well, I asked to demonstrate my lazy person's anti-addiction strategy. Most people who aren't around crack and never tried it don't think about using it every other hour.

So, I apply it to sugar in food. Much easier to resist something if you're never introduced to it in the first place. You don't need extra sugar, and you would likely never miss it if you never had it.

Bringing up an old memory, resulted in using an old expression

Quote:
The phrase "dead as a doornail" has been around since at least the 14th century. It first appeared in print in 1350 in a translation by William Langland of the French poem *Guillaume de Palerne*: “For but ich haue bote of mi bale I am ded as dorenayl”¹².

The phrase became more widely known through its use in William Shakespeare's *Henry VI, Part 2* and Charles Dickens' *A Christmas Carol*²³.

The origin of the phrase likely comes from the practice of hammering a nail through a door and then bending the protruding end over to secure it, a process called "clenching." This rendered the nail unusable for any other purpose, effectively making it "dead"².

Funny, and I thought bending over a nail during hammering only indicated a bad hammerst.

I was wondering if someone had thought of this

>>>

What is the best gadget for seniors who forget the stove on?

The CookStop Automatic Oven Control can be used to limit the times when the oven is operable or to turn off the stove when there is no one in the kitchen. Program the counter-top motion detector to turn off the stove 5, 10 or 15 minutes after the room is empty. To restart the stove or oven, just push “Start”.

There would have to be some sort of override. When I put a pot of chili on the stove it is on there for three hours or so and I am rarely in the kitchen.

it says you have to program it to do this or that, so I guess the default would be normal operation
