The youtube video is interesting, but goes on to a suprising theory, that rice cultivation requires so much work that it engenders an attitude in society towards persistence ... I'm guessing there is controversy here. Certainly none of this UK theorizing is being adopted in any such pondering about ethnic differences in math in the US ... laziness, essentially what he is saying, as a factor in such differences, is non-starter here!!

rice growing culture advantage?

rice cultivation leads to the formation of collectivism and why collectivist societies are more likely to develop autocratic institutions than individualist societies [only thing that came up googling, and I had to dig for it; the conclusion is not the same]

I have always found rice picking to be easy unless you buy the 50lb bag on the bottom shelf.

Johnson & Johnson is getting sued for selling talcum powder. I'll look into why they would have not realized there would be problems with that. Maybe.

What I already know is that talcum powder, which is a mineral, is not the same thing as baby powder. For example, there is a trick you can do with talcum powder, to get it to penetrate your wood floors, it may stop them from squeaking. However, you're told to not use 'baby powder' as it is not pure even if it has talc.

Some brands of baby powder *may* have talcum powder, especially in less litigious countries, but J&J over here no longer has it.

So I'm watching CNBC and they are doing the story, and sure enough they are showing images of J&J baby powder! Of course people watching are going to see that and quit buying it ... it must drive J&J crazy to see that. However, apparently there was at least some talcum powder in their baby powder until 2020, so I guess CNBC would claim it is ok to show images

>>>

what is in j&j baby powder

Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder sold in the United States, Mexico and Canada now includes cornstarch instead of talcum powder. The other ingredients listed include tricalcium phosphate, vitamin E, and aloe barbadensis leaf juice.

What is talcum powder?

Talcum powder is the refined, powdery form of the softest mineral on earth: talc. Talc is an “inert” ingredient, meaning it does not generate a chemical reaction when ingested or used on the skin. People have taken advantage of its natural smoothness, safety and absorbency since ancient Egyptian times.

I don't know if it's a mistake, but one could definitely argue if you open up legal gambling to any population making it easily available a certain percentage of people are going to have a gambling problem.

The big mistake I think, is selling food with added sugar. That's what I would go after long before gambling. I think Drich made me think of that idea.

I wouldn't do anything but advise people not to add sugar at home, but I'd try to get it out of products. Humans went for eons not eating foods with added sugar. Or maybe they just found something sweet to eat with it, or managed to get some honey. I wouldn't ban fruits for adding sweetness.

If we stop adding sugar to processed foods, and stop adding so much salt, that would go a long way to improving our health.

I complain about sodium amounts as well. We know products are safe with less sodium because they now offer almost anything with lower sodium. They should just go with those and stop adding extra.

It would also go a long way in making people unhappier than they already are. I choose happiness over longevity.
