Niagara Falls erodes about 1 foot every year. So eventually it will be in California or Mexico, or somewhere on the East Coast. I don’t actually know which way the face is.

Found an article about seashells. Then wondered if there is any money in rare shells. Not really. You'd have to do it more for the enjoyment than any serious money.

I'm not even sure if you really need to study the rare shells. You look for condition, unusual size, unusual or beautiful patterns. Where you'd miss things without experience is maybe a reversed design. Spirals going the opposite way.

Last time I was on the beach, I'd have to say condition is the first big issue. Shells completely intact are only usually going to be the most common ones, because you see them all over the area so you're bound to find a few intact.

Also, I imagine people could get really picky about tiny imperfections in the shell. Maybe that could take a lot off the price?

there's a story about Caligula being obsessed collecting seashells, commonly this being portrayed as the activity of a lunatic who thought they were actually valuable. I suspect strongly that this last part was his detractors putting a spin on what could have been a quaint hobby for someone who was no doubt a monster in other ways. A humanizing trait spun into something else? Sometimes history won't tolerate relating any redeeming feature of an otherwise undisputed bad guy

I guess everyone knows when you google now, a lame AI program kicks in

who told AI this bit, which I have to say is totally incorrect

recently even Social Security sent an email telling me to click on a link, as have plenty of other outfits. Really? If you follow their advice elsewhere, they tell you the best practice is to not click on links but go to the site via your usual method to check on the [whatever]

>>>

why do legitimate companies send emails telling you to click on the link?

"AI Overview

No, legitimate companies generally do not send emails that ask you to click on a link"

Outdoor activity in the day and poker in the evening means a fight with cramps in the legs. I might take some pickle juice with me.

Quote: first link
“It’s the acid in the brine that triggers nerves in the back of the throat, which then turns the cramp off... individuals within the pickle juice arm were asked to purchase jars of pickles of their choice. As long as they were dill or kosher pickles – not sweetened... They were also instructed to drink one tablespoon of pickle juice... when their cramping episodes began" [arm seems to mean 'group']

>>>

Does drinking pickle juice help with cramps?

The team found that pickle juice beat out tap water by reducing the severity of muscle cramps. “More patients in the pickle juice arm reported that their cramps were stopped by the intervention – 69% compared to 40% in the tap water arm”

The science behind why it works. While it hasn't been proven yet, researchers posit that pickle juice may help cramps by triggering muscular reflexes when the liquid contacts the back of the throat. This reflex shuts down the misfiring of neurons in muscle all over the body, and “turns off” the cramping feeling

There are a lot of drinks with more electrolytes which should have a greater affect for reducing symptoms.

Yes, and I have a whole list of them and will use them [bananas don't top the list btw]. You should also make sure you're not dehydrated. However, believe me, you can get the charlie-horses anyway.

There are evidently people who swear by the pickles juice. The study says it works and not because of the electrolytes

I guess you're not familiar with Mark Twain's style.
