What are gate lice at the airport?

The boarding process begins, and the gate is swarmed with passengers before their zones have been called. They're popularly known as “gate lice” and, despite being shamed and mocked in popular culture, U.S. airports are still experiencing outbreaks.
__

Can you get lice from airplane seats?

After all, a lot of people are packed into a small space and sharing headrests, so it would make sense that head lice can travel this way, right? Experts say that while it's rare to get head lice from a plane seat, it is possible. Being vigilant can help prevent the spread. [good grief!!!]

I was thinking about all the blondes in TV news

almost all dying their hair, I always wonder why they aren't more troubled by the dark roots that show, especially to be on TV with that

>>>

A study conducted in 2003 concluded that only four percent of American adults are naturally blond. A significant number of Caucasian women who have blonde hair have dyed it that way

Who said, "Blondes have more fun."

I don't actually remember, but I think it was an advertising campaign. Because what else could it be?

I just thought of "Prell". A shampoo. But I don't think that was it.

If a shampoo is a sham what's the real poo?

Just finished 'On Desperate Ground' by Hampton Sides [Korean War] and wanted to look some things up about Mao in China

>>>

How did Mao win [the Chinese Civil War]?

Communist propaganda took full advantage of all the Nationalist failings. Mao focused on winning over the peasants to gain their support in the civil war. “The battle for China,” he said, “is a battle for the hearts and minds of the peasants
__

Why did Chiang Kai Shek lose the Civil War?

As support for Chiang waned, the Nationalist government became increasingly ineffective and hostile towards the Chinese people. Where Nationalist forces continued to be weakened from engagements with the Japanese, communist forces grew in size and support from the more rural parts of unoccupied China
__

Why were the Communists able to defeat the nationalists?

The defection and capture of large numbers of well-trained KMT troops finally gave the PLA material superiority over the Nationalist army. Manpower continued to grow as well; during the Huaihai Campaign alone the CCP was able to mobilize 5,430,000 peasants to fight against the KMT forces
__

The Kuomintang (KMT) is a Chinese political party that ruled mainland China from 1927 to 1949 prior to its relocation to Taiwan as a result of the Chinese Civil War. The name of the party translates as "China's National People's Party" and was historically referred to as the Chinese Nationalists. [first led by Sun Yat-sen, then Chiang Kai-shek, defection of elements to Mao seems to have played an important role]

Many caught in the middle such as the Chinese side of my family
My family hated the communists with a passion
My family hated the KMT right wing dictatorship with a passion
Still no freedom in China today. Sad.
We freed ourselves in Taiwan
I grew up in New Haven. My parents were very involved with Chinese Yale students in the 1960s that got their Ivy league education and then went back to Taiwan to fight for democracy. The right wing dictatorship was eventually defeated

watching true crime stories, often people have taken out life insurance on the person they murder without that person knowing it. This money is often collected and used; later in the story the person goes after someone else. Somehow it comes out the victim didn't know about the policy, maybe they survive an attack and can say so. Considering the below, either forgery was not suspected in the cases where the money was disbursed, or the person had a habit of signing things not knowing what they were, I guess.

Sometimes you see the comment that a person with multiple insurance policies taken out on them is a doomed person, and there are definitely cases of multiple policies.

>>>

Can someone take out a life insurance policy on you without you knowing?

After you have proven that you have an insurable interest, you need to show that you have consent from the person you are trying to insure. The person the life insurance policy is for must be present for every step of the application process.
__

How to check if someone took a life insurance policy on you?

You might want to contact the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for their free Life Insurance Policy Locator Service, which looks for policies on the databases of many insurance companies. Another great resource could be your state's Department of Insurance (DOI).

I have honestly never heard any of those. People usually just say "I am from South Jersey" or "I am from North Jersey" (or use parkway exits.)

What states banned candy cigarettes?

Only one US jurisdiction, North Dakota, has ever banned candy cigarettes. (That ban in 1953 was repealed in 1967.)
