Just another reason, the removal of Kimmel wasn't just a business decision. Other than it was already obvious.

Really??? Now for the "rest of the story"

Neither FCC Chair Brendan Carr Nor President Trump Got Jimmy Kimmel Fired

Quote:
Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night gig took a sudden hit this week, with ABC pulling the plug on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely after a firestorm over his bald-faced lies about Charlie Kirk’s assassin. While some outlets rushed to pin the blame on incoming FCC chair Brendan Carr and the Trump administration, fresh details paint a different picture: it was a backlash from Kimmel’s own industry partners—advertisers and major TV station groups—that forced Disney’s hand.

Inside ABC, the scramble was immediate. Executives huddled with Kimmel in “multiple conversations” at the highest levels, pressing him on how he’d handle the fallout during Wednesday’s taping. They weren’t looking for a full mea culpa—just something to calm the waters. As one source put it, Disney brass wanted Kimmel to address the mess in a way that “would take down the temperature.” Instead, his pitch came off as gasoline on the fire: executives worried it was “going to fan the flames with the MAGA fan base.”

Kimmel’s team pushed back hard. A staffer from the show insisted his boss’s planned remarks weren’t “making it worse,” adding that he “wasn’t kowtowing” to the critics. They framed the whole uproar as Kimmel “defending what he said [as] being grossly mischaracterized by a certain group of people.”

That didn’t sit well with the folks signing the checks. With advertisers flooding phone lines and big affiliate players like Nexstar and Sinclair drawing a line in the sand—threatening to yank the episode from 66 out of 200 stations nationwide—the math didn’t add up for ABC.

The threats weren’t idle chatter. Nexstar, which owns more local stations than anyone else, and Sinclair, another powerhouse, made it clear: air Kimmel unfiltered, and they’d sit it out.

By Wednesday afternoon, with live tape time ticking down, the call came from the top: Bob Iger and Dana Walden, Disney’s CEO and entertainment chief, greenlit the suspension as a “last resort.” Walden broke the news to Kimmel personally—no demands for an apology, just the cold reality of a network staring down empty ad slots and silent affiliates.

Liberty Daily, and Gateway Pundit? At least make it a Fox story.

I once pissed of the Gateway Pundit founder when he was still flea size. His sourcing was so bad.

Please explain to me what is incorrect in both of the linked articles.

Well, it looks like you are unable to prove the articles are incorrect.

I found another source of the same information. The well known "Right Wing" source "The Hollywood Reporter".

How Jimmy Kimmel’s Suspension Went Down: Sponsor Panic, a Defiant Host and a Painful Call

Quote:
Inside of ABC, “multiple conversations” with Kimmel were had at the “executive level,” the first person says, though the talks had not yet reached Bob Iger or TV head Dana Walden. The execs wanted to know: How was Kimmel going to address the situation on Wednesday night’s show?

The answer was not satisfactory to management, sources say. Meanwhile, the advertiser calls began to roll in and then the big affiliate conglomerates, Nexstar and Sinclair, threatened to preempt the show. The second source says that the blowback was snowballing enough that had ABC not acted, Kimmel’s show would have been dark in a large swath of the country, even beyond the Sinclair and Nexstar territories (including in the Washington, D.C., metro area).

The situation became a safety issue as Disney employees saw their emails doxxed, per the first source — some even received death threats. Disney wanted Kimmel to address the situation in a way that “would take down the temperature,” but what he had planned was “going to fan the flames with the MAGA fan base,” the source says.

Well what do you know, this source confirms what I posted earlier.

Would Sinclair and Nextar have taken the same actions had Carr and the FCC not said what they said?

Sorry I've heard the FCC's comments and Trump's. Just keep thinking it was just the sponsors. Did the FCC chairman say we can do this the hard way or the easy way.

Explain what he meant.

Here's a clue.

Quote:
On a podcast hosted by right-wing commentator Benny Johnson, Carr called Kimmel's remarks "truly sick". "We can do this the easy way or the hard way... These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead"

Good question. I’d go with probably. But we will never know. I’ll agree with my leftie friends that the FCC chair may have overstepped in his threat. Guess who also agrees? Ted Cruz!!! As I said many posts ago, it’s more nuanced than either side wants to admit.

There was NO action taken by the FCC. YOU DONT know exactly what the FCC was going to do. What you DO know is MULTIPLE companies involved in airing Kimmel chose to cut ties with him. Rebuked him in clear and convincing terms.
Kimmel is free to speak his lies and obvious disgusting ideas. He just won’t be paid to do so by those multiple companies.

As has often been stated, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.

I’d like you to provide me with ONE ACTUAL FCC action that you believe violated any citizens right to free speech. I won’t hold my breath.

As I said, I generally agree that I wouldn’t want the FCC to FORCE the removal of a vile man like Kimmel, but read the press releases from the companies that axed him. Doesn’t sound like they needed any FCC action.
