This is classic Democrat thought. The military isn’t being paid. Neither are air traffic controllers. SNAP about to run out of money. Museums shuttered. Trump wielding UNPRECEDENTED power. And you actually wrote the Democrats ‘have nothing to lose’! How about those citizens??? Do THEY have something to lose do to the Schumer shutdown? Your thinking is why I hate the Democrat platform even more than the Republican platform. And how inane to say what they are asking for is ‘reasonable’. If it was so ‘reasonable’ , why LESS THAN HALF of those elected to the House voting for it!? Why are LESS THAN HALF of those elected to the Senate for it? Why isn’t the President who was easily elected for it? It seems to me it is REASONABLE to let those HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars in subsidies expire. Why isn’t THAT what is considered reasonable? The expiration of the subsidies will CLEARLY be under Republican ownership. If the people are unhappy with their House representatives, they can vote them out in a year. If they are happy with their House representatives half trillion saved, they can vote them back in. |

LOL! Middle America is well aware that the Republicans vote repeatedly for a clean spending bill, and the Democrats repeatedly vote against it. If you must use the word ‘stonewalling’ , it falls unequivocally and squarely on the shoulders of Schumer and Jeffries. |

| rxwine Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 215 Posts: 22760 | If the Republicans didn't want shutdowns to happen, they would have worked to keep them from ever being able to happen. They're just as much at fault for never doing anything about them. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

You know what Trump said about shutdowns during Obama's first term? He said it is on the President to negotiate with the minority party to end shutdowns over massive disagreements, he should follow his own advice. The military has not missed a paycheck yet and likely will not unless the shutdown continues past November 15th. What they are asking for is reasonable. And, Republicans will be the first ones crying next year when they see their new premiums in their private insurance that they love so much if the Democrats let them continue. Part of me says, let them scrap all of the healthcare credits and subsidies, because that will be great for Democrats. But, it is the wrong thing to do, people will die. The Democrats are not asking for some crazy thing like a federal trans tennis team, they are just asking for a guarantee that the health credits will continue, this is reasonable. |

They think it is reasonable: MAGA and the voters who voted for Trump seem to disagree. The democrats are trying to project strength to cloak their actual political weakness. |

Not on this issue. This is a gift to the GOP. If they let them expire, the GOP approval ratings would tank. Now, the GOP gets to blame Dems for the shutdown and will take the credit for restoring the credits if they agree to it. The genius move (if you don't care about anything other than votes,) would be let the credits expire and talk endlessly about how the GOP said Americans don't deserve healthcare next year, but Democrats have somewhat of a soul and don't want people to die |
